San Francisco Bay Area Metro Report: January 2020

The Zumper San Francisco Metro Area Report analyzed active listings in December 2019 across 30 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The California one bedroom median rent was $1,763 last month.

The Most Expensive

–San Francisco was the most expensive city with one bedrooms growing 0.3% to $3,500.

–Mountain View rent increased 0.6% to $3,470 but remained the second priciest city.

–Menlo Park was third with rent priced at $3,160.

The Least Expensive

–Vallejo rent stayed flat at $1,500 and as the most affordable.

–Antioch was the second least expensive with rent at $1,580.

–Concord ranked as third with one bedrooms priced at $1,720.

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

–South San Francisco had the fastest growing rent, up 14.8% since this time last year.

–Berkeley saw rent climb 10.8%, making it the second fastest growing.

–Antioch was third with rent increasing 9.0%.

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

–Antioch had the largest monthly rental growth rate, up 5.3%.

–Alameda rent jumped 5.1% last month, making it the second fastest growing.

–Livermore ranked as third with rent climbing 4.8%.
