The Zumper San Diego Metro Area Report analyzed active listings in September 2019 across 12 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The California one bedroom median rent was $1,811 last month.

The Most Expensive
–Coronado was the most expensive city with one bedrooms priced at $2,900.
–Carlsbad rent grew 4.8% to $1,970 and ranked as the second priciest city.
–Encinitas was third with rent at $1,950.
The Least Expensive
–El Cajon ranked as the most affordable city with one bedrooms priced at $1,310.
–Escondido was second with rent at $1,410.
–Imperial Beach ranked as third with rent climbing 3.4% to $1,540.

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)
–Coronado had the fastest growing rent, up 13.7% since this time last year.
–Imperial Beach saw rent climb 9.2%, making it the second fastest growing.
–Vista was third with rent growing 7.7%.
The Fastest Growing (M/M%)
–La Mesa had the largest monthly rental growth rate, up 5.3%.
–Coronado rent jumped 5.1% last month, making it the second fastest growing.
–Chula Vista ranked as third with rent up 5.0%.
