The Zumper San Diego Metro Report analyzed active listings in May across 15 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents.

Le plus cher

Coronado, CA rent grew $130 last month to reach $2,830. This city remained the most expensive in the metro area.

Carlsbad, CA inched out Encinitas this month by $10 to rank as the second priciest city with rent at $1,710.

Encinitas, CA followed closely behind as third.

National City & El Cajon, CA tied for the most affordable city with rent at $1,200.

Imperial Beach, CA had the second least expensive rent with one bedrooms priced at $1,290.

La Mesa, CA ranked as third with rent at $1,320.

Escondido, CA had the fastest growing rent since this time last year, up 15.3%.

Imperial Beach, CA followed closely behind with a yearly growth rate of 15.2%.

Chula Vista, CA rent was the third fastest growing, climbing 11.1% since this time last year.

Coronado & San Marcos, CA rents were tied for the fastest growing since last month, both up 4.8%.
