San Diego Metro Report: January 2020

The Zumper San Diego Metro Area Report analyzed active listings in December 2019 across 12 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The California one bedroom median rent was $1,763 last month.

The Most Expensive

–Coronado saw rent drop 5.0% to $2,830 but remain the priciest city.

–Encinitas moved up one spot to become the second most expensive with rent at 1,940.

–Carlsbad was third with rent falling 2.5% to $1,920.

The Least Expensive

–El Cajon ranked as the most affordable city with one bedrooms priced at $1,310.

–Escondido was second with rent at $1,440.

–Imperial Beach ranked as third with rent remaining flat at $1,450.

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

–Vista had the fastest growing rent, up 9.7% since this time last year.

–Chula Vista saw rent climb 9.5%, making it the second fastest growing.

–Coronado was third with rent jumping 7.6%.

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

–Chula Vista had the largest monthly rental growth rate, up 4.8%.

–El Cajon rent increased 0.9% last month, making it the second fastest growing.

–San Diego ranked as third with rent climbing 0.6%.
