The Zumper Norfolk Metro Report analyzed active listings last month across metro cities to highlight the most and least expensive cities, as well as those with the fastest growing rents. The Virginia one bedroom median rent was $1,579 last month.

The Most Expensive
- Chesapeake ranked as the most expensive city with one-bedrooms priced at $1,640.
- Virginia Beach was the second priciest with rent at $1,600.
- Hampton ranked as third with rent at $1,500.
The Least Expensive
- Newport News was the most affordable city with one-bedrooms priced at $1,140.
- Norfolk ranked as second with rent at $1,250.

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)
- Hampton had the fastest growing rent, up 16.3% since this time last year.
- Chesapeake saw rent increase by 8.6%, making it the second fastest growing city.
- Virginia Beach was third with rent climbing 6.7%.
