New York City Metro Report: December 2019

The Zumper New York City Metro Area Report analyzed active listings in November 2019 across 28 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The New York one bedroom median rent was $1,953 last month.

The Most Expensive

–New York City was the most expensive city with one bedrooms priced at $2,970.

–Hoboken rent dropped 2.7% to $2,500 and ranked as the second most expensive city.

–Fort Lee was third with rent priced at $2,480.

The Least Expensive

–Bridgeport ranked as the most affordable city with one bedrooms priced at $1,100.

–Kingston was second with rent at $1,160.

–East Orange rent grew 1.7% to $1,190 and ranked as third.

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)

–Kingston had the fastest growing rent, up 16.0% since this time last year.

–Newburgh saw rent climb 15.8%, making it the second fastest growing.

–Long Branch was third with rent jumping 15.3%.

The Fastest Growing (M/M%)

–West New York had the largest monthly rental growth rate, up 5.2%.

–White Plains rent climbed 5.0% last month, making it the second.

–Union City ranked as third with rent jumping 4.8%.
