New York City is, without a doubt, one of the top culinary destinations in the country, if not the world. Living in New York means trying new restaurants all the time, even ones that have been there for decades. Here are a few new restaurants to add to the ever-growing, ever-changing, ever-satisfying New York restaurant scene.
1. Belcampo

If you’re a west coast transplant, this one might sound familiar. Belcampo was co-founded by Anya Fernald who, after learning more about the meat industry, set out to sell meat that put both human and animal health first. Today, Belcampo has its own supply chain founded in 25,000 acres of farmland at the base of Mt. Shasta in Northern California, which is used to create their signature ½ lb all-beef burgers, short rib mac and cheese, and whole roasted chicken plates. The new restaurant in NYC’s Hudson Yards will feature Belcampo’s organic meat produced with sustainable practices, and will be the restaurant’s first venture outside of California.
2. Rodos

TV chef and personality Emeril Lagasse has finally opened his first NYC spot. The new restaurant, Rodos, is located inside the Hotel Henri in Chelsea. Its menu is a combination of Greek and Cajun-Creole flavors, inspired both by Lagasse’s travels to Greece with fellow restaurateur Yiannis Chatiris and the Southern flavors that made him famous. It’s been open for less than a month, so go check it out while you can before everyone else hears about it.
3. Misi

Located in Williamsburg, one of Brooklyn’s most coveted neighborhoods, Misi is the brainchild of Missy Robbins, the 2018 James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef: New York City. Robbins’ restaurant serves tasty antipastas, like grilled baby artichoke with mint salsa verde, and handmade pasta dishes like chickpea pappardelle, chickpeas, rosemary, garlic, parmigiano. The wine menu features both affordable and high-end bottles, and the cocktail menu boasts a handful of gin-forward drinks plus a list of tasty aperitifs to get your palate ready for Robbins’ delectable, Italian creations.
4. Junzi Kitchen Bryant Park

New year, new location. Junzi Kitchen has only been open a mere 3 years, but they’ve already grown to have four brick and mortar joints, with their Bryant Park location being their latest gift to the masses. Their menu is comprised of Northern Chinese dishes made from healthy, seasonal ingredients.
The mouthwatering noodle bowls come with your choice of meat, veggies, and sauces; try the tomato and green cabbage bowl–made with tomato egg sauce, braised pork hock, green cabbage, pickled daikon, and cilantro–or, opt for a vegetarian option and order the jaja mushroom and sweet potato–served with jaja sauce, grilled king oyster mushrooms, stir-fried sweet potato, kale, and smoky chive ash. They also offer an after hours menu inspired by late-night, Chinese street food. Options vary by location, but most include dumplings, fried custard bao, and Chinese sausage fried rice.

Inspired by the Austin food truck scene, Hill Country Food Park serves up Texas flavors and local favorites in the heart of downtown Brooklyn. This 10,000-square-foot, two story marketplace comes on the heels of owners Kristen and Marc Glosserman’s hugely successful Hill Country Barbecue Market and Hill Country Chicken restaurants. Their newest project, the food park, is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Whether you’re craving a specialty donut and coffee, fried chicken and waffles, or house-smoked brisket and ribs, you’re going to find it at Hill Country Food Park.
