In honor of April 4th, better known as National Burrito Day, we decided to showcase the different types of delicious, cheesy, stuffed pockets of goodness this nation has to offer. From burritos filled with Korean BBQ beef to massive, fork-and-knife-worthy enchilada style burritos, here are some of the best spots in the U.S. to get your fix.

Denver: Scratch Burrito & Happy Tap

What to Get: Korean BBQ Beef Burrito

It’s hard to pick just one burrito here. The menu at Scratch is loaded with things like the Tandoori Lamb Burrito, Thai Coconut Red Curry Burrito, and Blackened Catfish Burrito. They also have the classics like Steak and Chicken, but you should really try one of their Scratch-only burritos. We recommend the Korean BBQ Beef Burrito which includes fried rice, kalbi sauce, kimchi, and a fried egg. Get it alongside their chips and guac and you’ll have just found your new favorite place in Denver. Once you’ve tried all their tasty variations, go for the sweet and tangy chicken wings, a local favorite.

Los Angeles: El Chato Taco Truck

What to Get: Al Pastor Burrito

This taco truck on the corner of Olympic and La Brea has become a beloved Los Angeles institution, and you’ll quickly realize why. For the purpose of this article, we’ll recommend the al pastor burrito; the marinated pork and smokey salsa are tough to beat when combined in a warm flour tortilla with rice, beans, and your favorite fixings. If you’re new to town, heading here will make you feel like a local.

The al pastor meat isn’t just a huge hit in their burritos, though. It’s also a fan-favorite in their tacos, quesadillas, and mulitas. At $1.25 each, you can probably afford to get a few al pastor tacos to go with your burrito. Ask for the complimentary grilled onions and add avocado to anything for $0.25. Like we said, El Chato is an institution, and one visit will explain everything.

San Diego: Chuy’s Taco Shop

What to Get: Breakfast Burrito

The massive breakfast burritos you get at Chuy’s will not disappoint. The chorizo and egg is popular here, and the mild green salsa adds the perfect amount of heat to your first meal of the day. If you’re here for lunch or a late-night bite, you can’t go wrong with the loaded carne asada fries. Chuy’s has grown a loyal customer base since opening just two years ago, and it’s easy to see why.

New York: Taqueria Diana (East Village)

What to Get: California Style Burrito

With three locations in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn, Taqueria Diana is a staple for delicious tacos, burritos, and nachos. Get the Chicken burrito, which comes with rice, beans, and salsa, then add guacamole, crema, and cheese for an extra $2. The location in the East Village is quite small, has limited seating, and is more of a “grab and go” place, so come in with those expectations and you’ll be good to go.

Phoenix: Rito’s Mexican Food (Crown)

What to Get: Wet Burrito

They call it enchilada style, we call it a wet burrito; whatever it’s called, it’s smothered perfection. Choose your meat and burrito type and it’ll come covered in red enchilada sauce and melted cheese, and served with a side of rice and beans. They also have a fun cocktail menu, so check out the inventive drinks and get one that pairs with your warm, cheesy, smothered burrito.

San Francisco: Taqueria Cancun

What to Get: Super Burrito

Our list wouldn’t be complete without, arguably, the Mission District’s best burrito spot. Enter Taqueria Cancún, a San Francisco staple. Sure, there are other establishments in the city with perfectly tasty burritos (El Farolito, La Taqueria, and Taqueria Guadalajara, to name a few), but Cancún takes the cake for us.

With three locations–one just a stumble away from Dolores Park, a weekend day drinking mecca–this place satisfies the drunks, the hungover crowd, and everyone in between. They’re known for their burrito mojado (wet burrito), which you can, and should, get with al pastor. We love the super burrito, though; it might be a classic choice, but it’s one that Cancún does up right. Get it with al pastor, and enjoy the rice, beans, onion, cilantro, sour cream, cheese, salsa and avocado goodness that is the super burrito.

Get yourself to one of these burrito heavens ASAP. Don’t live near one? Find your next apartment and you’ll become a regular at one of them in no time. And now, here’s a short list of other burrito establishments you should make a mental note to try, too:
