Jumping a spot this month in our most recent national rent report, San Diego outpaced Fort Lauderdale to become the 12th most expensive city to rent in the U.S. The price of one bedroom units grew 3.3% to a median of $1,550, while two bedroom units increased 1% to $2,120.

This summer, Coronado remained the most expensive neighborhood for renters at a median price of $2,800 for one bedroom units. The next priciest areas were neighboring East Village ($2,250), Little Italy ($2,100), and Marina ($2,075). Mid ranged priced rentals, ranging from $1,300-$1,500 could be found in and around Midway District, North Park, and Kensington.
The most affordable neighborhoods, all priced under $1,000, were Chollas View, Islenair, and Encanto.
