As we enter summer, Houston comes in as 21st most expensive city for renters in the nation. Last month, one bedroom units jumped 2.1% to a median of $990, while two bedroom units grew 1.7% to a median of $1,230. Although prices were relatively stable this month, the city still came ahead of Charlotte, Raleigh, and Virginia Beach in our most recent list of rent prices across the nation.

At a monthly median of $1,890 for one bedroom units, The Museum District was the most expensive neighborhood for renters this summer. A few hundred dollars behind, Hunter Creek Village ($1,500), Fourth Ward ($1,500), and Downtown Houston ($1,475) were the next priciest areas. Moving to the east of these neighborhoods, more affordable rentals priced below $700 could be found in areas such as Pecan Park, Harrisburg – Manchester, and Magnolia Park.
