Jumping two spots this month, D.C. outpaced San Jose and Oakland to become the fourth most expensive rental market in the U.S. The price of one bedroom units jumped 3.4% to a median of $2,200, while two bedrooms increased 2.8% to $3,080. D.C was also the only city in the top 10 markets to see increases in both one and two bedroom prices this month.

At a median of $2,700 a month for one bedroom units, Georgetown was the most expensive neighborhood to rent this fall. Dupont Circle ($2,550), Logan Circle – Shaw ($2,500), and Mount Vernon Square ($2,490) were the next priciest areas. Some mid-range priced rentals close to these bustling neighborhoods, but for a few hundred dollars less, included LeDroit Park – Bloomingdale, Glover Park, and Mount Pleasant.
