Austin ranked as the 26th most expensive city to rent in the U.S this month, with the price of one bedroom units at a median of $1,120 and two bedroom units at $1,430. This city came ahead of Nashville, Baltimore, and Plano in our most recent national rent report.
This fall, Downtown Austin ($1,880) was the most expensive neighborhood to rent in. Old West Austin ($1,615), Central East Austin ($1,550), and Zilker ($1,550) were the next priciest areas. Some mid-range priced rentals, a few hundred dollars less than the most expensive neighborhoods, that are still close to the bustling city center included West University, Old Enfield, and South River City.
