Mapped: Boston Neighborhood Rents (Summer 2019)

Coming ahead of Oakland, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C, Boston ranked as the 4th most expensive city in the nation with one bedroom rent growing 2% to $2,500, while two bedrooms increased 2.1% to $2,900. Notably, on a year over year basis, one bedroom rent is up nearly 7% since this time last year.

While Roslindale et Dorchester had the fastest growing rents since last quarter, both up around 12%, Mission Hill saw the largest rent dip, down about 8%.

Downtown Boston, Chinatown – Leather District , et West End continued to rank as the most expensive neighborhoods, all priced above the $3,000 threshold. More affordable rentals priced below the city one bedroom median of $2,500 could be found in North End, Jamaica Plain, et East Boston .

Meanwhile, some of the least expensive areas, which were concentrated in the southern portion of the map, included Mattapan, Hyde Park, et Roslindale.
