Falling behind Philadelphia last month, Chicago became the 16th most expensive city to rent with one and two bedrooms priced at $1,520 and $1,860, respectively. Notably, on a year over year basis, two bedroom rent is down over 15%.

While Humboldt Park and West Town had the fastest growing rents last quarter, both up 15%, Pullman saw the largest rent dip, falling 12.5%.
This fall, River North ($2,290) moved past West Loop ($2,200) to rank as the priciest neighborhood. Greektown, Loop, and Streeterville, all priced at or above the $2,000 threshold, followed closely behind as the next most expensive areas. Rentals priced closer to the city median of $1,520 could be found in Bucktown, East Village, and Ukrainian Village.
More affordable neighborhoods with rents less than $1,000 included Chinatown, Belmont Cragin, Hermosa.
