The Zumper Los Angeles Metro Report analyzed active listings in October across 18 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The California state median was $1,663 last month.
Cities Ranked By Rent
The Most Expensive
–Santa Monica, CA rent fell over 5% to $3,180 but continued to rank as the most expensive in the metro.
–Glendale, CA bumped up two spots, outpacing Pasadena and Los Angeles, to rank as the second priciest city with rent at $2,160.
–Pasadena, CA, though falling behind Glendale, saw rent prices shoot past Los Angeles and rank as third with rent at $2,120.
The Least Expensive
–Pomona & Bellflower, CA tied for the most affordable city in the metro with prices at $1,280.
–Whittier, CA was second with rent at $1,300.
–Hawthorne, CA rent, only $10 behind Whittier, ranked as third at $1,310.
Growth Rate
The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)
–West Covina, CA rent was the fastest growing since this time last year, up 15.6%.
–Bellflower, CA ranked as second with rent climbing 15.3%.
–Norwalk, CA rent grew 13%, making it third.
