The Zumper Los Angeles Metro Report analyzed active listings in December across 17 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The California state median was $1,831 last month.
Cities Ranked By Rent
The Most Expensive
–Santa Monica, CA rent dropped 1.7% to $3,020 but remained the most expensive city in the metro by a long shot.
–Los Angeles, Californie rent outpaced Glendale and Pasadena’s to become the second priciest at $2,300.
–Culver City, CA moved up two spots to rank as the third most expensive city with one bedrooms priced at $2,220.
The Least Expensive
–Pomona, CA rent, though growing 2.4% to $1,270, continued to be the most affordable in the city.
–Norwalk & Bellflower, CA tied for the second least expensive city with rents at $1,300.
–Hawthorne, CA ranked as third with rent at $1,330.
Growth Rate
The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)
–Santa Monica, CA had the largest yearly rental growth rate in the metro, up 15.7%.
–Los Angeles & Glendale, CA tied for second with prices both climbing 15.6% since this time last year.
–West Covina & Downey, CA tied for third with rents growing 15.3%.
The Fastest Growing (M/M%)
–Whittier, CA had the fastest growing rent since last month, up 5.3%.
–Culver City, CA followed closely behind with a 5.2% monthly rental growth rate.
–Los Angeles & Alhambra, CA tied for third with prices climbing 4.5%.
