Whether you’re moving into your first kitchen or your tenth, having the right cooking tools and utensils makes everything a whole lot easier. Some kitchen gadgets solve common cooking problems and mishaps, while others combine looks and functionality to add a little fun to your cooking experience. We sorted through some of the best kitchen gadgets on Amazon and came up with this list of 12 we’d definitely buy. Read on to see what we found.
Instant Pot

The Instant Pot has become an instant classic. Create healthy meals with this pressurized cooker that does the work of 8 different kitchen gadgets. It’s a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, yogurt maker, cake maker, searing and steaming pot, and a warmer. If you have a bigger budget, check out the WiFi-enabled Instant Pot; you can set this cooker from your phone no matter where you are.
Egg Separator

Experienced bakers know how long it takes to master the art of egg yolk separation. Thanks to this kitchen gadget, it’s easier than ever. Simply place Joie’s Yolky Egg Separator over a bowl, measuring cup, or the sink and crack the egg. The yolk will settle into the belly and the egg white will slip through the cracks.
Rub-A-Way Bar Stainless Steel Odor Absorber

Most of us love garlic, but the lingering scent? Not so much. This odor-absorbing, stainless steel bar is great for getting rid of the garlic smell that stays with you long after cooking with it. It’s also great for getting rid of a fish or onion smell, and it’s dishwasher safe.
Garlic Chopper

Better yet, grab one of these garlic choppers so you don’t have to mess with the pungent smell to begin with. Pop a clove of skinned garlic into the top compartment and close the lid. Roll the gadget across the counter a few times; the more you roll, the finer the minced garlic will be. Remove the lid and your chopped garlic awaits.
Tea Infuser

This one is mostly for looks, but it does do a great job of brewing your loose leaf tea. The sloth (aptly named Slow Brew) is our favorite, but they also come in many other styles like the octopus (Octeapus), dog (Hot Dog), Narwhal (Spiked Tea).
Pasta Strainer

Along the same lines, straining the hot water out of your freshly made pasta is always harder than it looks. A normal strainer can slide around when you dump the pot of water directly into it, and the wooden-spoon-against-the-lip-of-the-pot method is usually a messy idea. Keep all your noodles in the pot with this inventive pasta strainer, one of the best kitchen gadgets we’ve seen so far.
Sponge-Friendly Soap Dispenser

With this ceramic sponge holder, scrubbing pots and pans just got easier. Its spring-loaded and removable centerpiece helps create soap suds, while the holder itself keeps the sponge from smelling like mildew.
Baggy Rack

If you’ve ever needed to pour soup or a liquid into a Ziploc bag without any help, you’ve experienced how messy it can get. The baggy rack is perfect for moments when you don’t have an extra hand to hold the bag open. Clip the sides of the bag to the rack and it will stand up so you can pour your leftovers into it.
The Nessie Family

Not only are these utensils cute, they’re super functional. The ‘family’ consists of, in order of largest to smallest, a pasta strainer, soup ladle, and a tea infuser. Best of all, they stack nicely so they won’t take up too much space if you happen to have a small kitchen.
Pineapple Peeler (and Corer!)

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been confused about how to properly cut a pineapple. This hand tool is one of the best kitchen gadgets we’ve come across, and it’ll make your life so much easier. Think of all the pineapple-filled dishes and drinks you can make once you have the thing cut. From Al Pastor tacos to pineapple chili margaritas, pineapple (perfectly peeled and cored with this gadget) is the perfect fruit for enjoying warm summer months.
2-in-1 Whisk and Spatula

We love this because it’s 1) affordable and 2) multi-purpose. Simply twist the handle of your silicone spatula and it becomes a whisk. When you’re ready to clean up, the head detaches from the handle, so you can wash both pieces individually. Let them air dry and you won’t get water dripping from the handle when you’re ready to use it again.
Foldable Cutting Board

If you’ve ever chopped vegetables (and we’re hoping you have), then you know how hard it is to transfer every single piece from the cutting board to the pan; at least one mushroom rolls off the board and onto the floor. Enter the foldable cutting board. This non-slip cutting board is the perfect surface for you to do all your chopping; once you’re ready, squeeze the handle and the board folds into a nice funnel shape so you can easily transfer your veggies. It’s also dishwasher safe and comes in a variety of colors.
Getting ready to move into a new apartment? Don’t forget to get some of these kitchen gadgets on Amazon before the big move. We have a feeling the Instant Pot will be the perfect gadget for making your first few meals in your new place.
