Jumping three spots this month, Houston ranked as the 23rd most expensive rental market in the nation. One bedroom units were priced at a median of $1,210, while two bedroom units settled at $1,500. Since this time last year, the price of both one and two bedroom units are up 15%.
At a median of $1,810 a month for one bedroom units, The Museum District was the most expensive neighborhood to rent this spring. A few hundred dollars behind, Downtown Houston, Hunter Creek Village, and Fourth Ward were the next priciest areas.
On the other end of the cost spectrum, Kashmere Gardens, Settagast, and Pecan Park were the most affordable areas, all with one bedroom rents under $600.
Greater Third Ward and Gulfgate – Pine Valley had the fastest growing rents, both up over 12% since last quarter.
