Houston Neighborhood Rent Prices Mapped This Summer (June 2017)

Climbing three spots this month to be tied with Sacramento, Houston ranked as the 27th most expensive city to rent in the nation. The price of one bedroom units grew 4.6% to a median of $1,140, while two bedrooms increased 3.7% to $1,410. Since this time last year, rent for both one and two bedroom units are up around 15%.

Lawndale – Wayside and Sharpstown had some of the fastest growing rents since last quarter, both up over 12%.

While the Museum District continued to reign as the most expensive neighborhood to rent, with one bedroom units priced at a median of $1,800, other notably pricy areas included neighboring Washington Avenue – Memorial Park ($1,340), Great Uptown ($1,300), and Greenway – Upper Kirby ($1,290) as well.

Rentals located close to bustling downtown but at more affordable prices could be found in Northside Village ($800), Greater Fifth Ward ($690), and Greater Third Ward ($800).
