The Zumper Houston Metro Report analyzed active listings in January across 10 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The Texas state median for one bedroom units was $913 last month.
Cities Ranked By Rent
The Most Expensive
–Houston, Texas rent dropped $60 to $1,200 but continued to rank as the most expensive in the metro.
–Sugar Land, TX was second with one bedrooms priced at $1,150.
–The Woodlands, TX rent outpaced Missouri city’s, growing $50 to $1,120, and became the third priciest.
The Least Expensive
–Pasadena, TX remained the most affordable city in the metro with rent at $710.
–Baytown, TX rent grew $40 to $790 but stayed the second least expensive.
–Spring & Conroe, TX tied for third with rents both priced at $900.
Growth Rate
The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)
–Sugar Land, TX, similar to last month, had the fastest growing rent since this time last year, up 8.5%.
The Fastest Growing (M/M%)
–Baytown, TX rent had the largest monthly growth rate, climbing 5.3%.
–The Woodlands, TX ranked as second with rent growing 4.7% last month.
