Bars
It’s hard to compare San Francisco and Kansas City when it comes to their watering holes, so instead, we rounded up the best in each city. Here’s where to watch the game, whether you’re rooting for the 49ers or the Chiefs.
Kansas City

This off-the-beaten-path dive bar is your perfect Big Game headquarters. The place has lots of TVs, great pizza, and $9 pitchers. What’s not to love about Caddy Shack? The bar is homey and features a pool table, a massive wall of TVs, and ample tabletops. It’s the perfect balance of dive bar and sports bar, and it’ll be a great environment to watch the Chiefs and the 49ers take the field.
With four huge projection screens and more than 50 big-screen TVs, it’s hard to beat this place. Located in the KCMO party district, Westport Ale House features two full bars, lots of seating, and a surprisingly good food menu. The best part about this place is that you can basically see a TV from anywhere in the bar, so any seat will be a good seat.
Sure, it’s cold in Kansas City right now, but that’s not stopping thousands of fans from watching the Big Game at the Kansas City Live Block. Admission is free to this tailgate party brought to you by Power & Lights District and there will be ample heaters and alcoholic beverages to keep you warm. There will also be giveaways, selfie stations, DJ’s and live music, and gigantic screens showing the game. Plus, once you’re here, you can always pop into any of the bars, like County Road Ice, and watch from inside.
The Big Game watch party is going to be a fun one at this neighborhood bar. A $20 admission ticket will get you in the door, plus access to a buffet of snacks, pizza, and wings. A $30 ticket will get you all that plus a guaranteed seat. Tickets can only be purchased in cash and at the door, so get there early. If the game gets a bit slow, you can always play darts, the newest Golden Tee, or a classic game of pinball.
San Francisco

The San Francisco Athletic Club
This Pac Heights haunt draws a raucous crowd on game day, so expect it to be extra rowdy this Sunday. With 10+ TVs, bar food, and lively fans, this is going to be a fun place to watch the Big Game. Show up early to grab a table; it’s going to be packed.
For the hometown team, The Chapel is putting the big game on the big screen. Admission is free, and food and drinks are available for purchase. Plus, The Chapel is a live music venue first and foremost, so if the game lacks excitement, the interior is at least fun to look at
Pay $5 at the door and join one of the biggest watch parties in SF. Food trucks for the event include Firetrail Pizza, Chef’s Truck, Nucha Empanadas, The Sarap Shop, and Gyros on Wheels, and the bar will be serving up wine, house-made sangria, and local craft beers. There’s a DJ who will be spinning during commercials, and dogs and kids are welcome.
This bi-level bar is throwing a party, and it’ll cost you $20 to get in the door. Once you’re in, though, you can grab a beer from their huge tap list, put in an order of nachos, and enjoy the game on the massive big screen TV wall. If you’re not into the football game, play some arcade games instead. The taproom features skee-ball, foosball, darts, pinball, and more.
