With the Emmy’s just around the corner, we wanted to celebrate by showcasing 6 stunning award nominated TV show apartments and highlighting similar Zumper listings that are close by to where these famous apartments would have been. If you’ve ever wanted to live by the Friends apartment building, now’s the time!
1. The Flight Attendant: SoHo, NYC (HBO Max)
The HBO Max hit show “The Flight Attendant,” nominated nine Emmy Awards stars Kaley Cuoco as the title character, whose life is upended by a murder. As Cassie, she needs friends to help her figure out just what happened, which leads her to one of television’s most fascinating New York City apartments. She takes solace with her bestie Ani, who lives in a large, ultramodern SoHo loft with some distinctive touches, including high, wood-planked ceilings, dramatic archways leading to kitchen and bedroom, and the ultimate quirky Manhattan architectural design – a glass shower located in the middle of the living room.
- $21,000: 4 bed / 3 bath
- 353 Avenue Of The Americas #3
2. The Undoing: Fifth Avenue (Billionaires’ Row), NYC (HBO/Warner Bros)
“The Undoing” is HBO’s 2020 hit whodunit miniseries nominated for two Emmys that stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant as a wealthy couple whose lives are upturned when murder happens. Their Upper East Side brownstone is beautiful, but the penthouse where her wealthy father (Donald Sutherland) lives is the stuff some dreams are made of. Located at 1215 Fifth Avenue, on Billionaires’ Row near the Metropolitan Museum of Art, it is a New York gem. The interiors were actually shot at 1107 Fifth, an apartment with floor-to-ceiling windows, crown molding, room for a piano (and a huge dance floor) in the living room and two bedrooms, four bathrooms.
A similar apartment available on Zumper:
- $52,000 – 5 bed/5.5 bath
- Townhouse: 128 E 74th St #TH
3. Halston: NYC (Netflix)
Telling the story of fashion designer Halston’s life as he rose to fame, this Netflix miniseries is set in New York City of the 1980s and ’90s. With five Emmy nominations, places that Halston called his own in Manhattan include 813 Madison Avenue at 68th Street, where he had his first studio, and the Olympic Tower at 641 Fifth Avenue at 51st Street, where his 21st floor atelier has gorgeous city views. His townhouse home designed by Paul Rudolph (actually recreated in Brooklyn for the shoot) is at 101 E. 63rd Street, with 7,500 square feet, four bedrooms, five baths, a roof terrace and backyard.
- $59,000 – 5 beds/6.5 baths
- Midtown East · 641 5th Ave, New York, NY 10022, USA
4. Sylvie’s Love: Harlem, NYC (Amazon Prime)
Set in the 1950s and ’60s, “Sylvie’s Love” is nominated for one Emmy (Outstanding Television Movie). Starring Tessa Thompson and Nnamdi Asomugha as star-crossed lovers and imbued with the Harlem jazz scene of the time, most of the movie was shot in Los Angeles. But Sylvie lives in a Harlem brownstone, which would likely be located on 120th Street and Lenox Avenue, on Astor Row (130th Street between Fifth and Lenox), or on 137th Street in the Dorrance Brooks Square Historic District.
- $8,000 – 3 beds/2.5 baths
- Central Harlem · 235 W 122nd St, New York, NY 10027, USA
5. The Queen’s Gambit: NYC (Netflix)
With 18 Emmy nominations in 2021, the smash Netflix hit “The Queen’s Gambit” was actually shot mostly in Berlin and Toronto. And while the basement apartment in Manhattan where Benny, Beth’s chess rival/mentor/coach lives, could be on the Upper West Side or in the Village (we never know, but the brownstone above his place gives some clues), it’s got one thing going for it – it’s got a lot of space!
Zumper apartment much like Benny’s:
- $4,500 – 3 beds/ 1 bath
- Hudson St, New York, NY 10014, USA
6. Friends: The Reunion (HBO/Warner Bros.)
While the “Friends: The Reunion” show actually reconstructed the iconic on-the-same-hall apartments that most of the gang lived in at one point or another on a soundstage, the actual building is in Greenwich Village at 90 Bedford Street. Nominated for three Emmys, the show also known as “The One Where They Get Back Together” was actually shot in Los Angeles, so the apartments in that building weren’t actually used. But both iconic TV apartments were two bedrooms with spacious living rooms and kitchens, and one had a terrace.
A Zumper apartment like Monica’s:
- $18,500 – 2 beds/2 baths
- 143 Prince St, New York, NY 10012, USA
