The Zumper Detroit Metro Report analyzed active listings last month across metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The Michigan one bedroom median rent was $1,096 last month.

The Most Expensive
- Ann Arbor ranked as the most expensive city with one-bedrooms priced at $1,650.
- Birmingham was the second priciest with rent at $1,610.
- Novi ranked as third with rent at $1,500.
The Least Expensive
- Warren was the most affordable city with one-bedrooms priced at $950.
- Pontiac ranked as the second least expensive with rent at $1,000.
- Detroit was third with rent at $1,050.

The Fastest Growing (Y/Y%)
- Birmingham had the fastest growing rent, up 12.6% since this time last year.
- Pontiac & Novi both saw rents climb 11.1%, making them tied for the second fastest growing.
- Royal Oak was third with rent increasing 10.2%.
The Fastest Growing (M/M%)
- Birmingham had the largest monthly growth rate, up 5.9%.
- Novi was second with rent climbing 4.9%.
- Sterling Heights was third with rent increasing 1.8% last month.
