The Zumper Detroit Metro Report analyzed active listings in May 2019 across 10 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The Michigan state median one bedroom rent was $849 last month.

Cities Ranked By Rent

Le plus cher

Troy, MI held on steady as the most expensive city with rent at $1,210. 

Novi, MI continued to rank as the second priciest with rent staying at $1,170.

Dearborn, MI moved into the top 3 markets with rent growing $50 to $1,140.

Detroit, MI remained the most affordable city with one bedrooms priced at $610.

Pontiac, MI also had a flat month with rent staying at $690 and as the second least expensive.

Taylor, MI ranked as third with rent at $740.

Growth Rate

Taylor, MI had the fastest growing rent, up 10.4% since this time last year.

Livonia, MI followed closely behind as second with rent climbing 10%.

Pontiac, MI saw rent jump 9.5%, making it third.

Dearborn, MI had the largest monthly rental growth rate, up 4.6%.
