The Zumper Detroit Metro Area Report analyzed active listings in December 2019 across 13 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The Michigan one bedroom median rent was $838 last month.

–Birmingham was the most expensive city with one bedrooms priced at $1,350.

–Ferndale rent stayed flat at $1,220 and ranked as the second priciest city.

–Ann Arbor was third with rent at $1,200.

–Pontiac ranked as the most affordable city with one bedrooms priced at $660.

–Detroit and Warren were tied for second with rents both at $720.

–Ypsilanti ranked as third with rent staying flat at $860.

–Detroit had the fastest growing rent, up 14.3% since this time last year.

–Southfield saw rent climb 10.5%, making it the second fastest growing.

–Westland was third with rent jumping 7.7%.
