Chicago Metro Report: April 2017

The Zumper Chicago Metro Report analyzed over 70,000 active listings in March across 15 metro cities to show the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents.

Most Expensive

Chicago, Illinois was the most expensive city to rent in the metro area. One bedroom units were priced at a median of $1,770 this month.

Orland Park, IL ranked as the second priciest city with rent at $1,540.

Arlington Heights, IL rent was the third most expensive at $1,440.

Least Expensive

Kenosha, WI was the most affordable city to rent with one bedroom units priced at $730.

Elgin, IL came in second with one bedroom rent at $900.

Berwyn, IL followed closely behind at $910, making it the third least expensive city in the metro.

Yearly Growth Rate

Fastest Growing

Elgin, IL had the fastest growing rent, up a whopping 15.4% since this time last year.

Arlington Heights, IL rent was second with a 15.2% yearly growth rate.

Waukegan, IL ranked as third, jumping 15%.
