This June, San Diego ranked as the 11th most expensive rental market in the US, as the median price for a one bedroom apartment remained at $1,500. Prices for one bedrooms have increased 1.4% in the trailing quarter, while two bedrooms have also jumped 5.3% in the same period. This climate has helped San Diego maintain rents ahead of Philadelphia, Portland, and Atlanta on our list of trends across the 50 largest cities in the nation.

When looking at the heat map above, higher priced areas were found to the northwest and the south, including Coronado ($2,670), East Village ($2,210), and Little Italy ($2,000). More affordable areas were found to the southeast, as median one bedroom prices hovered around $700-$900 in that region.
