Boston Neighborhood Rent Prices Mapped (Winter 2018)

Boston moved up two spots and into the top 5 markets to rank as the 4th most expensive rental market in the nation last month. One bedroom rent grew 1.3% to $2,300, while two bedrooms remained flat at $2,700.

While Jamaica Plain and East Boston had the fastest growing rents since last quarter, up 10% and 7%, respectively, Dorchester and South End saw the biggest rent dips, down 8% and 6%, respectively.

Downtown Boston ($2,980) inched past South Boston Waterfront ($2,970) to become the most expensive neighborhood to rent this winter. Chinatown – Leather District ($2,700), West End ($2,690), and Back Bay ($2,675) followed suit as the next priciest areas. More affordable rentals, priced at less than $2,000, could be found in Allston, West Roxbury, and Mission Hill.
