Climbing one spot this month to become the 4th most expensive rental market, Boston had one and two bedrooms priced at $2,200 and $2,650, respectively. The city came ahead of Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Oakland in our rankings.

Downtown Boston was the most expensive neighborhood to rent this summer with one bedrooms priced at a median of $2,950. South Boston Waterfront ($2,900) and West End ($2,800) were the next priciest areas. Rentals for less than $2,500 could be found in Beacon Hill, Bay Village, and Fenway.
Dorchester and Roslindale had the fastest growing rents since last quarter, climbing 9.4% and 10%, respectively.
