Atlanta ended the year as the 16th most expensive rental market in the nation with one bedroom rent growing 2.2% to $1,400 and two bedrooms climbing 2.3% to $1,790. On a year over year basis, Atlanta saw a fairly steady upward trend with one and two bedroom prices increasing 3.7% and 5.9%, respectively.
For the first time ever, we are looking at Atlanta neighborhood rent growth for the year. The areas with the fastest growing rents in 2017 were Ridgedale Park, Edgewood, and English Avenue, all up around 15%. On the other end of the growth spectrum, Grove Park, West Lake, and Vine City saw the biggest rent dips, all down over 11%.
Overall, the southwest portion of the city had the coolest year in terms of rent prices, besides English Avenue. The southeast portion, on the other hand, had a ton of neighborhoods with prices growing within at least 5% since this time last year. The northern part of the city was a mixed bag of growth.
