Judging by the weather, it might be hard to tell when summer actually hits Long Beach. This Southern California coastal city has some of the best weather in the state, averaging a high of over 70 degrees even in the winter months. But one sure-fire way to know it’s summer is by the outdoor festivals, activities, and parties happening throughout the city. Check out these fun summer things to do in Long Beach and get ready for some sunshine and good times.
Long Beach BBQ Festival

BBQ fan? You’re going to want to buy your tickets early before this massive 3-day festival sells out. Held in Rainbow Lagoon Park, this outdoor extravaganza is the perfect event for the BBQ enthusiast. Grab VIP tickets to the Rib Village and get access to all-you-can-eat pork, chicken, ribs, and sides, plus guaranteed seating under a shaded tent. In addition to the variety of BBQ vendors, the festival also features a different live music lineup each day, a dance floor (with free dance lessons!), adult beverages for purchase, and a kids’ zone with inflatable bounce houses, a petting zoo, and face painting. There aren’t many better ways to enjoy the summer in Long Beach than at this BBQ festival.
Taste of Brews

Get your craft beer fix at this awesome beer festival at Shoreline Aquatic Park. Limited ticket sales means this festival will have short lines, less crowds, and lots of quality brew to go around. You’ll get to try samples from some popular breweries like Karl Strauss, Goose Island, and Ballast Point; get hyper local and try beer from Long Beach breweries Beachwood, Belmont, and Congregation. Feed your appetite with food options that include local food trucks like Mess Hall Canteen, Bison Burger, and 3941 Tamales. Check out this festival and enjoy a day in the sun with good beer, good food, and good company.
Long Beach Jazz Festival

This year’s 31st annual event kicks off in August and it boasts some of the country’s top Jazz and Blues artists. Live performances, a variety of food vendors, beer and wine tents, and plenty of dancing make this festival a must this summer. For the first time ever, the festival will also host the Long Beach Jazz Festival Celebrity Golf Tournament at Monarch Beach Golf Links. It will take place in July, ahead of the actual festival, and feature breakfast, lunch, games, prizes, cigar rolling, and whiskey tasting. Don’t miss out on either event; they’re sure to draw big crowds!
Long Beach Bayou Festival

Celebrate Louisiana Bayou food, culture, music, and dance at this Long Beach festival in its 32nd year. Nothing says the Big Easy like Cajun and Creole cuisine, so be sure to check out the festival’s Crawfish Eating Contest and stroll through the festival grounds to explore the variety of vendors serving up traditional Bayou food. Join the fun during the Mardi Gras Parade, listen to live music at two different stages, and let the kids go wild at the kids’ corner. Get outside and head to this festival to experience the cultural traditions of the Louisiana Bayou.
Agenda Festival

Perhaps one of the biggest events of the summer, Agenda Festival brings some of the hottest names in music to the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center. In partnership with the Dew Tour, Agenda Fest will feature Lil Yachty, Billie Eilish, Brockhampton, and more. Plus, there will be plenty of local, Southern California food trucks to keep you fueled up throughout the day. In addition to the big name performers, the festival will boast more than 500 pop up shops selling skate and surf apparel, footwear, and products.
Brunch Life Festival
