I have really loved living at Link 4th Street, and it is a great place to live if you are a grad student at Wake.
The location is great, so walkable and close to so many bars and good restaurants.
The apartment amenities are amazing, such as clubroom, gym, pool and 6th floor balcony. The clubroom can be rented at no extra charge to residents as long as nothing is damaged, and my roommate and I would do that for events and birthdays. Our guests were always super impressed with the facilities, and everything was always pretty clean! Sometimes, I wish the gym equipment would be wiped down at the beginning or end of the day because not everyone wipes down machines after using, though.
Affordability is pretty good being in the downtown location, and I feel safe living here because of all of the FOBs that one must scan getting into the building (the entrance doors, to get in the elevator, to use amenities, etc.). Although there can be homeless people from time to time, I have never been frightened for my safety or felt threatened.
Here, Link lets you choose between Spectrum and AT&T for wifi and the only choice for energy is Duke. I used AT&T Wifi, and my connection was always strong. I never had any problems with it, and it worked great. I paid about $55/month.
Additionally, maintenance staff was so friendly and helpful. Once I put in a maintenance request on the portal, it was always resolved within 24 hours, max!! This was great compared to other places I have lived that will go weeks without resolving a maintenance issue.
The worst part about living here is the parking situation-- you have to completely exit the apartment on the first floor and walk across Poplar St. because the parking deck is managed by a third party company. Unless you are returning home around 5 p.m. on a week day when everyone else is leaving work, you'll most likely have to park on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th floors of the deck, which can be annoying. It would be super great if the Link Properties could reserve a certain number of closer spaces to the building on the lower floors for their residents-- I think so many of us would appreciate that. During the day this was fine, but sometimes at night I would stay in or Uber somewhere instead of using my car because I dreaded the walking outside in the dark in a not well-lit area.
My only other complaint is that the wall paint is pretty cheap and scuffs so easily. Scuffs and scratches did come out after using a wet washcloth, but it felt a little ridiculous to be touching up my own walls after I only brushed it with my bag or something else.
Scheduling move out soon literally only based on slight price comparison in the area, downsizing to a 1 bedroom and a better deal with specials elsewhere, but literally would recommend to anyone!

I did not have an appointment but it did not matter, Makayla and Marie greeted me as I walked in and even took the time to tour me. Moving to NC soon and definitely hope to rent here in the future. Beautiful property and amazing staff.

Great location, amenities, and residents. If you are looking for a place to live in Winston Salem that offers walkability, accessibility, safety, camaraderie among residents, and a friendly staff, Links 4th is the place for you.
Excellent community for amenities and location and cleanliness. The staff is extremely responsive to all questions and are professional and courteous. Fabulous location in Downtown Winston Salem walking distance from shopping and restaurants.

Moved in yesterday and already love it! Move-in was made easy by Christine. She went above and beyond for me and deserves a raise! I also talked to another lady in the office just for a moment, but she also seemed very attentive and sweet.
I'm living in an A2 apartment, and I'd say it's the perfect size for one person. Top floor (tucked in the corner of Poplar and 4th Street), and I don't hear much street noise and have a pretty nice view!
From what Christine was telling me, they also have happy hour and different community events going on; I'm not sure if I'll take advantage of it because my life is pretty busy now, but if you don't know anyone in Winston, this sounds like a great way to meet people!
Parking garage is across the street and seems very safe and clean. I used to park at the garage on Marshall Street, which has a decent amount of homeless around, so there's a constant urine smell and no security. This parking garage, on the other hand, has security late at night and no smells!
Their package delivery system is done via app, which is really cool. You use the same fob to get into everything in the building, including the parking garage across the street. I personally go to LA Fitness, but the gym here will be good for a majority of people. Pool and patio is nice. Common area is nice.
Honestly, place is great. Can't imagine anything would change that, and I wish I was going to be living here longer.

While I only lived here for about 6 months, my experience was fantastic!! Makayla Hall, the Assistant Property Manager was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and was super nice! I ended up transferring to another Link Apartments to be closer to work. Link on 4th was in a very convenient location, in walking distance to tons of shops and restaurants! The new leasing staff that was hired on near the end of my residency were also fantastic! Overall my experience was 10/10!

Lived here a year. Never had any issues. Maintenance came typically within 24hrs. (Only needed them for minor things). I saw a comment about staff & residents being racist & not to discredit their experience, I’m Black & never felt any thing but respect from everyone. I was always been greeted in elevators & staff (I’ve interacted w/ them all) has always helped me with any questions I had. The key fob for amenities may be a little annoying but I prefer that over feeling unsafe. I’ve hosted 2 events here & my guest loved the complex. Parking is in a deck next to the complex. It is shared with employees of the 500 building but I’ve never had any issue w/ finding parking. I’ve never parked higher than the 2nd floor. Yes you have to walk across the street but it takes less than 2 minutes. Im only not renewing because I am moving out of the city.
The 1 star they lost is due to no valet trash (they have trash shoots, I’d just prefer to set my trash right out the door lol) & I personally stayed next to the dog park & the dogs barking can be annoying but that’s not necessarily fault of the complex. Lastly, I’ve had good & bad experiences with the call box & sometimes having to go get my guest bc it wasn’t working.
