I imagine you’re looking at this site for a place to live in Winston Salem. Following is an unsolicited and un-biased opinion…
As a 7+ year resident, I cannot recommend Ardmore/Coverdale highly enough. So, how ‘bout some bullet points?
1. Location: Let’s see, walking distance to Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Publix, Trader Joes, Walgreens, several dry-cleaning places (if you’re into that), a fine take-out Chinese restaurant (whose name I forget), Panera, Barberitos (coming soon), several banks and essentially, the entire Thruway shopping center. I imagine there’s even a weird-looking nail salon or two, high end bagel places, or some crazy spa thing nearby too - if that’s your thing. And, of course, the ubiquitous McDonalds, Krispy Kreme, Starbucks, etc. What’s not to love? You absolutely don’t need a car to live here…but major roads and highways are very close by, you know, if you have a car…
Side note: we’re very near a huge hospital complex, as well. I’ve noticed when there’s a weather-related power failure in the area, we’re back on fairly quickly – most likely due to the need to get the hospital back online. So, there’s that…
2. Staff: Katie (Site Manager) and Brooke are the best - extremely pleasant and very responsive to questions. I honestly can’t remember a time, even on the weekend, where I didn’t get a response within an hour or so to a request or a maintenance issue. Seriously. Events (with food) are held several times a year and it’s great to meet people from other buildings and socialize with the staff (did I mention the free food?)
3. Maintenance: I’ve lived in a lot of places in my life – houses, condos, dorms, apartments and even a blue 1971 AMC Gremlin for a few weeks (don’t ask). The maintenance crew here is really first class – Drew and Ron are both friendly, prompt, and always willing to answer questions. They are always out and about in the complex and easy enough to have them answer a question. You can request maintenance online and most likely you’ll get a call within the hour. Even after hours…
4. Apartments: Yes, they are old – built right after WW2, and that’s very much a part of the wonderful charm living here. Yes, my kitchen floor is slanted a bit, and my office chair rolls across the floor if I don’t put a rug under it (was kinda funny the first time), lovely old-style casement windows in every room and up to date appliances. Heating and AC are more than fine – I’ve rarely had an issue with either. Hardwoods downstairs and carpet upstairs (makes sense). And yes, you can hear your neighbor (up and down) at times – but, hey, that’s apartment living, guys. It’s never been a problem – I know my neighbors and we try to be considerate.
5. Safety: I have never had an issue with safety the entire time I’ve been here. I do see the police drive though on occasion, though I’m not aware of specifics. I’m not afraid to walk the complex at night. We now lock the main outside door at night, just out of general security.
6. Landscaping: Beautiful grounds well maintained with great old growth trees. Grass is always mowed promptly, and the leaves blown in the fall (which, of course, is when you need to blow them, duh).
7. Conclusion: Decent, affordable housing has always been an issue. Honestly, you can’t find a better option than Cloverdale Ardmore. So, what are you waiting for?

Ardmore Terrace is the perfect Place to call home for so many reasons the location is perfect. It is on a great side of town. These apartments are life with the roll out windows, high ceilings , plenty of big ol trees in our historic neighborhood. The location is life, no vehicle needed. Close to fast food, grocery stores, bars , gyms etc. All that aside the staff here is on it. From office personnel to maintenance. The staff is chill, easy communication and plenty of FOOD! Yep, Brooke makes sure we are up to date on Pancake, Neighbor, Coffee Cake and taco days, just everyday day love. Jon is our plant and animal whisperer/ site manager. Hie green thumb is prominent in our lounge area. Then we have Ron over our maintenance and if its broken this man can repair anything. We also have our mascot Lincoln who is welcoming with his bubble blowing skills.
All I'm saying is my apartments are AHHHHMAZING!!
We moved to Ardmore Terrace a few years ago, and we love the location. Katie and the office staff are very kind and helpful. Our dishwasher died several months ago, and in less than a week, we received a new one. Maintenance and office staff are on top of things. Thanks.
