I lived here during my final year at Duke. I only moved out because I graduated and relocated to another city. Living here is a very pleasant experience - from signing the lease to moving out, the staff here were friendly and professional. There may be some small issues - sometimes you may miss message from package concierge, the windows are not very soundproof if you live close to the road etc. I'd also admit that it's not very walkable, but I don't have a car myself and managed to get to campus, restaurants, and farmers market etc., either walking or taking a bus or school shuttle. Neighbors are friendly, lots of Duke ppl. The management organized many social events for residents (my favorite is the Sunday Crepes!) Special shoutout to Jamie who has put together so many wonderful events (crepes, bagel, pool, wine etc.)! Maintenance team has been responsive and professional. I really enjoyed the gym, new coffee machine, and central internet setup. I'd recommend this to anyone seeking an apartment in Durham!
The office staff were very friendly and accommodating. Gabriel and Matt laid out all my options for different floor plans as well as availability. Craig from maintenance is always here to fix any small issues that cropped up but overall it is a wonderful property and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

Bell West End has been mine and my wife's home since February 2018. Even before we saw it we knew this was the right place for us. Centrally located, we can walk to the local Co-Op Market, west and east Duke campuses, and the Durham Farmers market on Saturdays. Gabriel, the Assistant Community Manager is the man! Always ready to answer any and all questions and assists with resolving any issue. A constant professional and truly sincere young man. And the management team makes sure to keep all residents abreast of community activities and routine maintenance checks. The maintenance crew, Chris Haithcock, Chris Hall and Craig Hillman are the best! As soon as we submit a maintenance order (which is rare) they are on it. Reliable, knowledgeable and extremely nice group of guys. Bell West End provides luxury style living without the luxury costs. Great pool area, gym and yoga studio, comfortable study areas, mini doggy park and large bike room for storing bikes. The convenience of being able to jump on Highway 147 is a life saver. If your looking for a safe, friendly managed place to live in downtown Durham look no further than Bell West End!

I have been a resident here for about 2.5 years now, and I'm happy to say I have never questioned renewing my lease. This apartment is in a great location - near plenty of grocery stores (Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Food Lion, and the Durham Co-Op Market), a 5-10-ish minute walk to downtown restaurants and bars, the American Tobacco Campus, or Brightleaf shops, and a quick run to the Duke campus or gardens. I spend a lot of time at the pool and the gym, both of which are clean and well-maintained. In my time here I think I only experienced one fire alarm, so that is no longer a common issue. I have never had an issue with internet or parking in the deck, and maintenance requests are handled quickly. Sometimes sound carries a bit throughout the walls/floors, but that's really the only negative I can think of. The value you get for your rent cannot be beat downtown. I have a spacious modern apartment with washer/dryer, and dishwasher included, and a balcony. If it wasn't for Bell West End I wouldn't be able to afford living downtown on my own as a young professional so I am extremely grateful to still be able to find something that works for me. Special shout out to Assistant Manager Gabe, who is always ready to help with anything or answer any questions. He is awesome! All the staff I have met are really kind and professional. The cleaning crew is especially sweet. If you're looking for somewhere to land downtown I would strongly recommend Bell West End!

Don't understand any of the bad reviews, this is one of the nicest apartments near Duke. I have lived in two different units at this apartment complex and I have not seen a bug here once. Resident events are frequent, amenities are always kept nice, people who live here are respectful, and the area is very convenient to all of downtown and Duke. I've never felt unsafe walking around this area late at night as a woman. The bike room is secure and I have never had anything stolen. Maintenance responds to our work orders the same day or next day (one time they were at our door in 15 minutes). Management has been very helpful and accommodating. The only downside is that units near the highway will hear some traffic. Highly recommend.
I have only been here for almost two months, but honestly, this place is just amazing. I moved for a new job, and needed to find a place fast. I was able to find this place, sign a lease and move in all within 4 days. The staff is friendly, and they handle things so well; whenever I have questions, they never hesitate to answer. I love being downtown and hearing the traffic. I get to see fireworks from my window almost every other weekend because of the ballpark I think. It's such a great location and very convenient (I work in RTP and this is 13 minutes away)! They handle maintenance requests in a timely manner. They care about their tenants! I have no complaints. & most importantly, there are no bugs!! The apartments are a good size and the trash valet is a game changer! so thankful for the staff and to be a member of this community.
Moved in 3 months ago and can honestly say I love living here! The amenities are great. My fiancé and I enjoy all the resident events and enjoy the pool immensely. The office and maintenance staff are very responsive and so friendly. You also can't beat the location.

Love calling this place my home! Bell West End provides close access to Duke campus and downtown Durham with affordable luxury apartments, quick maintenance turnaround, friendly leasing agents and a pool! We have had great experiences with everyone now on staff: Gabe, Tiffany, Chris, Craig, Chris and Matt. They all work hard to provide great service!
