I have lived at the Harper for about two months, and I am very happy with the building and my unit. I was nervous about moving somewhere sight unseen, but Olivier did a great virtual tour and answered all of my questions. The building's management is friendly and responsive; Seth who took over recently is going a great job. The front desk staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - especially Eugene. I just had to submit my first maintenance request which was handled almost immediately (and to my satisfaction). My biggest concern about The Harper was the size of the unit, particularly storage, but everything is designed with the small size in mind. For one person, the space is great. If you're a couple who is primarily work from home, you may want something bigger (though the communal lounge space could offer you somewhere else to go). Having a washer/dryer in unit, central A/C, ice maker in the freezer, and a dishwasher is really hard to find at this price point and location, especially considering all utilities are included. The neighborhood is a mixed bag, so if your primary concern is safety, you may want to look elsewhere. It's very vibrant and diverse with a mix of new and old that gives it a lot of character, and I appreciate that. It's right by the U Street metro stop, multiple bus lines, and there's tons within an easy walk. Crime does exist, though. The biggest perk of all is being right across the street from Trader Joe's.

Lived in a studio apartment for the past 2 years and moving out because I'm moving out of town. Harper and the management have been a pleasure. The management is super accessible and the doorman, cleaning, and maintenance staff are amazing. Eugene has been the doorman during all my time and he's been a pleasure to speak with. I don't remember the cleaning lady, but you know she's a diligent worker because she's literally everywhere you go cleaning. Finally, Stanley. He's the maintenance guy and just knows how to solve your problems quickly and efficiently. All the staff members is what makes Harper. I got lucky with Harper and I say that with proof. After 2 years before I decided to move out of town, I toured different apartments around the area just to see what was out there. From the Harper, you'll always see the Louis which is right across from the street. You'll notice that they have a pool and a huge TV screen and the Harper doesn't have those. I toured the Louis and other apartments, but the management seemed out of place and the interior of the apartments and the gym were just not as good as those of Harper. For example, Harper's gym is at the rooftop and so you get to workout with a rooftop view which is always a pleasure. There are also grills and a penthouse to host parties outdoors and indoors. Also, if you're concerned about noise issues since it's located on 14th street, the soundproofing is done well since the building was built in 2015. Overall, I would highly recommend living here. The only thing to note is that I think the apartment only offers studio and junior one bedroom apartments so keep that in mind.
