I can’t say enough good things about my time at Hawthorne at Haywood! From the moment I stepped into the community, I was captivated by the beautiful landscaping and inviting atmosphere. The apartments are spacious, modern, and filled with natural light, making them feel like a true sanctuary.
What truly sets this place apart are the amazing team members, Kara, the Community Manager, and Lee, the leasing agent. Kara’s dedication to creating a welcoming community is evident; she goes above and beyond to ensure residents feel at home. Lee is equally impressive, providing exceptional support throughout the leasing process. Her professionalism and attentiveness made my experience seamless and enjoyable.
The amenities are fantastic, with a resort-style pool and a well-equipped fitness center that cater to all needs. Plus, the sense of community is strong, thanks to regular events and activities that bring neighbors together.
Hawthorne at Haywood is perfectly located near shopping and dining, adding to its appeal. If you’re looking for a vibrant, luxurious place to live, I wholeheartedly recommend Hawthorne at Haywood—and don’t forget to ask for Kara and Lee! They truly make all the difference.

The team at Haywood is amazing. The office staff are some of the nicest people I've ever met. The maintenance staff is super responsive and friendly as well. They are very dog friendly, so my pups (& myself) always feel welcome.
Eric came to my new apartment to fix my sink and it was the quickest and easiest fix. It was wonderful talking and meeting him I do have to say that it shows he loves what he is doing and brings that to every home he goes to. So thank you!
I absolutely loved my time here! I’ve got friends trying to move to the area, and not only was this community beautiful and welcoming, but Sarah W made me feel so comfortable about sending my friends here to apply and move in—not to mention the convenient location! If you’re looking for a place to move into in the Greenville area, it doesn’t get much better than this!
From March 2020 until May 2023, over 3+ years, I had an overall great experience living at Hawthorne at Haywood.
I never had a single complaint from any of my neighbors, and got along with most neighbors very well.
It's a great location to get anywhere in WNC since you're only a 1/4 mile from I-40 East or West and only about 1 mile from the I-26/240 interchange to go North or South. There was always a parking spot near the building entrance whenever I got home, even though they weren't reserved spots (however there's definitely been an influx of folks with multiple cars over the years so I'm not sure if that's still the case). The property was well-cared for with almost daily trash pick-up, diligent maintenance guys, and good neighbors that would keep an eye out for stuff that needed to be addressed too.
The views from the property were awesome, from both my apartment and from the dog park, a mostly unobstructed view southwest toward the ridge line , parkway, and Mount Pisgah in the distance.
The office staff and maintenance staff were friendly and professional + my dog got a treat almost every single time that we visited the clubhouse. I loved that there was a dog wash station near the pool in it’s own building + the dog park was definitely a great place to have my new pup interact with other pups.
The property is somewhat disconnected from the surrounding neighborhood (there’s fragments of new sidewalk connecting to a nearby commercial mall with restaurants) however much of this area is hotels, gas stations, car dealerships, and it’s commercially-focused. So, I’m just mentioning this because going on a neighborhood walk or run is a little dicey considering the sometimes heavy traffic flow and the continuously evolving pedestrian situation.
Fortunately, it’s only about 5 minutes from the Buncombe County Sports Park, 10 minutes or less to Haywood Road (central West Asheville), about 15 minutes from the Arboretum and Blue Ridge Parkway, and there’s a pick between 2 Ingles grocery stores, Lowe’s and Home Depot, and a lot of other weekly conveniences within 5-10 minutes as well (Enka post office, Dripolator Coffeehouse, car wash, etc).
It’s mostly quiet, however the property is located near the curving off-ramp for Exit 44 (Enka, Candler, West Asheville) so that definitely adds some noise, especially infrequent Jake-braking noise, so it’s something to consider if you’re sensitive to it.
All-in-all, I’d say that this property is a solid 8.5 out of 10. I enjoyed living there for the time that I did, and I’d recommend it if someone were looking to live pretty close to Asheville and still have the convenience of hoping on I-40 or I-26 to visit the other nearby towns.

I’ve lived here for the past 8 months and have loved it. I live in phase two which is the newer part and I was the first one to live in the apartment. I’ve lived in another newer build before and expected your typical new build problems (appliances not working, things being hooked up wrong, ect.) but didn’t have any of these issues living here.
The staff is the best. I’ve never had any problem getting in touch with Liz, Holly, or Abby and they are some of the sweetest people I know. I’ve been to most of the resident events and look forward to putting them on my calendar every month. There’s been a range of events from movie nights, to flower bars, to DIY workshops. The events are for both phase one and phase two so it makes meeting new people super easy and fun.
I have the French broad plan and love how spacious it is. It’s been great for hosting friends and having dinners. I have new gold furnishings and lots of natural light in the apartment which makes it feel like home. We live on the ground floor but there’s an elevator to make moving and groceries easy if you were up some floors.
Phase two is definitely more secluded, but that’s what I had been wanting. There’s ample parking and nice amenities. If we weren’t moving and closing on a house we would have loved to stay here longer. :)

I have lived in this community for almost a year. I have had issues with the tenants who live above me. I have voiced concerns to the management and for the longest time it fell on deaf ears. Since the new management has taken over, in particularly Lee, Things have improved greatly. Lee has made arrangements for me to relocate to a different building on the top floor. Yes moving isn't ideal but she made the best out of this situation. She waved the moving fees the only issue is I will have to pay double rent for a few days. I can guarantee you, as she reads this she will see if she can remedy this as well. She could have done as the previous and let me deal with the issues and rented the other apartment. However, she places customer service first. For almost a year several of the folks who use the gym have requested a small inexpensive bench( <100.00) be added. She is the first to look into adding this and I am sure it will be taken care of. If you want customer service she is the person to speak with. Thanks Lee
