I have never had any issues here. All the tenants are very respectful and the managers (Micky and Caryn) are amazing. They try and host parties at least once a month and provide free food and usually beverages - it's so much fun and a great way to get to know your neighbors! My apartment was very cozy and rarely had issues with anything. I give this place an A+.

Lived here for about 3 years. Never had any problems with management. Both were great. I don't really understand people complaining about parking stuff. If you follow the guest parking rules and move your car when you're supposed to for snow plowing you won't have a problem. Aarvig fiber as an option for internet was awesome. Best provider I've ever had. Only negative thing I can say about the place is that the water was turned off somewhat often it felt like. Didn't have any problems with our deposit.
We've been here five years and the management is responsive and professional. The common areas are well-maintained and stylish. They even foster a sense of community by sponsoring events for the tenants. Fellow tenants are friendly and courteous. Like any apartment building anywhere there are problems from time to time but management does a good job of addressing issues quickly. It's a pleasure to live here.

My roommate and I love it here! The apartments are nice, spacious, and modern. Maintenance is quick to respond to any issues (we haven't had to wait more than a day for things to get done), and Micky is absolutely fantastic! Our only complaint is that the elevators are a little small, so moving large pieces of furniture was a bit difficult, but that can't be helped and isn't a big deal in the long run. All-in-all, we definitely recommend Shelard Village to anyone looking for a new place to call home!

I had a very pleasant and positive experience with living at Shelard Village for the 8 months I was there. The apartment itself was very spacious for a 1 bedroom finished with stainless steel appliances and lots of cupboards for storage! While living there they renovated the balcony and any construction that took place was during work hours, so I never had to hear any disruptions to my day-to-day life. The staff was very accommodating when I moved in, they even let me move in a couple days early so I could move out of my old apartment faster! I love that they don't charge pet rent, just a down deposit per cat.
Here are some of the pros: spacious fitness center, very secure building, a parcel room for packages, 24/7 on-call maintenance, an outdoor pool that's now being renovated, fun community events monthly, living with other young professionals, location is prime next to every freeway, very friendly staff, I never saw many kids running around (so it's pretty quiet!), nice parks and trails nearby and ALL UTILITIES INCLUDED! It doesn't get much better than that!
The staff here is pretty amazing. I was fortunate enough to create friendships with the ladies in the office. Any time I had a question they were quick to respond and always very friendly! The monthly community events have to be my favorite, it allowed me to meet my neighbors and socialize with the building staff.
My only complaint here would be the towing, but if you read the other reviews you will see that this is avoidable. They do need to post towing clarification somewhere in their lobby, but as a resident I understood the rules and cascaded that information appropriately. You can't be mad at the office staff or even the tow drivers, this goes to their upper management that needs to make a change. They need to have it posted somewhere or AT LEAST add in more guest parking spots. Since I was friends with some of the office staff, they gave me guest parking spots whenever I knew I would have friends over during the weekend. This was never a problem to get, so if you take the proper precautions, you will be fine :) just think of it as added security!
I'll certainly miss Shelard Village and the team that runs it!

I lived here for a year and was SO sad to leave! It's an older building, but management has been working constantly to update apartments/common areas.
Pros:
1. Management: Micky, the property manager, is absolutely fantastic!! She is very on top of email communications as well as making sure the complex is maintained and in good order.
2. Price: The rent for a 2 bed/1.5 bath was very reasonable. The fact that all utilities (aside from internet/cable) are included, and only a one time fee of $150 to have cats was very nice!
3. Safety/Outside noise levels: I felt very safe at this complex, and being surrounded by several office buildings meant it was pretty quiet most of the time.
4. Proximity: Being right off 394/169 meant we were very close to a lot of stores/restaurants (There's a Cub and a Trader Joe's about 5 min away and a Target 10 min away).
5. Space: The living room and bedrooms were very spacious and the windows/sliding patio door offered a lot of natural light during the day.
6. Amenities: The gym is smaller but has everything you could need to get a decent workout in. The courtyard is absolutely lovely, with a fire pit, multiple grilling stations, and a decent sized pool that's 8 feet deep! Absolutely LOVED using the sauna, and I appreciated that there was laundry on every floor.
Cons:
1. Thin walls/floors: I could always hear our upstairs neighbors walking around, and every once in awhile I could hear my next store neighbors talking through the walls.
2. The hallway closet door came off it's sliding track quite a bit, so we felt like we had to be VERY gentle when opening/closing it.
3. Laundry Card Machine: The one in my building was often out of order, many times I had to walk to the other building's machine to add money to my card.
SV is seriously a great place to live if you want somewhere affordable, safe, well-maintained, and spacious!

To the people complaining about getting towed.
I've lived here over 3 years and have had many of my friends and cousins stay past midnight with no issues. The tenant should know the rules, it's 9pm and if you are going to stay past 9pm you are able to get visitor passes, they're free and we get them all the time so we don't have to run into this issue. I get that the parking space is limited however they can't magically build another parking lot, they need to make sure that thereare enough spots for their own tenants.
I've been living here for over 2 years and I had a nasty review over here however a lot of things have changed since and I believe a change in review was due.
Management has changed, one of the ones many had an issue with quit. We have 2 new people in office, 3 in total and all of them have been awesome.
I've noticed a lot of work being done, from getting things cleaned and new things being added.
They keep hosting events which is really nice for kids and families and even teenagers and adults, events like movie nights and having mini parties with food trucks. The party room is now free to rent out which is really awesome.
We had one major leak issue however they took care of the issue really quick and we were taken care of as well which was really nice.
I have nothing but good things to say about this place and the people who take care of it.
It's quiet and safe in this area, no cops, no nonsense.

I have lived here for almost 2 years now, and it has been a wonderful experience. Some of my favorite things:
1. Cost - the apartments (and heated garage) are so affordable and you get a great deal for your money. The apartments are HUGE and there is so much beautiful natural light.
2. Fitness center - the gym is smaller but it has everything you need for a good workout. I love working out, so the smith machine, cable machine, weights, treadmills, bike, and elliptical are perfect.
3. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. I love going for walks around the park.
4. Micky, the leasing agent and apartment manage is Incredible! So easy to work with and great communication. Similarly, the maintenance staff is wonderful and is always able to fix your issues within 24 hours of a request.
5. Proximity to grocery stores, downtown Minneapolis, etc. This apartment is only a 10 min drive to downtown and walking distance (!!) to Trader Joe's.
The only cons:
- The floor laundry is not great, but I feel this is fairly common with shared laundry units.
Overall, a great apartment that I would recommend.
