I lived in a single bedroom apartment at Highland, the apartment is very nice, sunny, roomy with a very acceptable rent. The apartment rarely needed maintenance but whenever sth happens, the maintenance guy always comes promptly and resolves the issue immediately. Ashley, the apartment manager, is a very professional person, and she always replies to the emails promptly! I always hear terrible stories about other unprofessional management ripping students off with the security deposit, but don't worry with Ashley that will never happen. I don't have a car but it's very easy to get to campus from here as the apartment complex is 2-minute walking distance from two bus stops (4B and Northwestern), it's also a walking distance from Asia market, payless and Walmart. Additionally, there is a very nice cafe down the street (Literato Cafe). I highly recommend this place.

**This review reflects my personal experience and opinions based on my interactions with the apartment management company. It is posted to share my experience and inform others.** It was an affordable, old apartment before CPM & *BK* took over. I moved in when it was owned by a local landlord, but once it was sold to BK Management, the nightmare began. I recommend checking the BK Management, West Lafayette's reviews in the Google map. They are notorious. First of all, this apartment is old and deserves only the minimum rent in the area. With its popcorn ceiling, AC filled with dust and stuck bird feathers, poor-quality shared laundry, cracked parking lot, no snow powing during winter, and rusty water pipes, it’s clear that the condition of the apartment is poor. AND!!! you will be charged for the unit's renovation (full charge for painting, patching, and cleaning) when you move out, regardless of how you used the unit. My experience with this apartment management company has been extremely frustrating, and I am getting letters back and forth trying to get my deposit back. 1. Maintenance Problems: Basic maintenance is neglected. The shared laundry machines are dirty, frequently malfunction, and often consume your coins without refunding them. Don’t even think about washing your light-colored clothes, as they will come out stained! Also, during the winter, snow accumulates, and they never plow it, leaving it to turn into a free ice skating rink!! Your cars and humans will be tripped over and over. This indicates a disregard for maintaining a livable environment. They closed their on-site office permanently, and you are left trying to contact them by phone for everything, which is often ignored. 2. Lack of Security: My car was damaged in the apartment parking lot during Thanksgiving break, and the management refused to take responsibility. They said they weren’t willing to notify other tenants to seek witnesses unless the police requested, which contrasts sharply with the proactive approach of other nearby complexes. I filed the police report, but even after they refused to do anything about it. 3. Security Deposit Issues: Expect to be charged for excessive remodeling out of your security deposit, regardless of how well you maintained the unit. They seem to fabricate fees to cover their renovation costs. Regardless of the actual condition of the unit, they put whatever numbers they need to work and make up the deductions. They’ve also taken over many other properties and seem unwilling to return security deposits for those properties as well. 4. Unfair Rent Increases: During the rent contract renewal season, they provide a range (YES A RANGE) for potential rent increases but do not specify the exact amount. Then, they will charge you the maximum possible increase, which can be over $300 per month for outdated and poorly maintained apartments. This lack of transparency is frustrating and feels exploitative. This review will remain until my deposit is properly refunded. I strongly advise finding another place to live. They do not care whether you are students or faculty at Purdue; they will act this way to exploit your money.
