Gratiot Woods Co-op has a short wait on standard one-bedroom units. This newer senior co-op building is a non-profit, three story building with 61 apartments. Members have a voice in the management of the building and are encouraged to participate. Gratiot Woods Co-op is gradually transforming into a 100% smoke free co-op. While no one is allowed to smoke in any common area of the building and within 25 feet of the building, there are approximately 20 members who are still permitted to smoke in their own apartments because they signed a waiver prior to the full implementation of the new smoking rules. All new members as of March 23, 2016 are not allowed to smoke inside their own apartment. Gratiot Woods is nestled in a revitalized neighborhood which boasts several new and rehabbed homes in the area. Each unit comes with a stove and refrigerator. All apartments have central air and heat, with individual controls. Gratiot Woods Co-op also boasts a large community room with kitchen facilities, their own library, a gift shop and a beautifully decorated first floor lounge. We also have community lounges with balconies on the second and third floors. There is an onsite computer center for resident use as well as free wireless internet access for all residents. Gratiot Woods is one of the best-served areas for bus transportation. There are lines on Gratiot, Warren, Cadillac, Mack, Harper and Conner to name just a few in the area. These lines, four of wich are within two to four blocks of the building, connect to virtually every route in the city of Detroit. Gratiot Woods Co-op is affordable for everyone. Rent is based on a percentage of the household's income. Come check us out today!
