One fully furnished bedroom of a beautiful old condo is available. You will need to sign a 12-month lease with me, the landlord. Then we can renew the lease as long as we both are happy with the arrangement. Monthly total cost: $1000 (Rent + Utilities and other fees that land owner handles. Unless you use utilities to an excessive degree, I would not charge you extra for utilities). Deposit is $1000. Location: The town of Shirley MA, a fairly rural but beautiful and quiet place. Yes, you will need a car to get around. 10 min drive to Shirley train station for Fitchburg commuter rail line. It’s about 1 hour direct train to Porter Square in Cambridge or Boston North Station. Other stops along the line will be less than 1 hour. The housing location is also 15 min to Route 2 and then connecting to a web of highways in the greater Boston and Worchester area. To Cambridge, it’s 1 hour drive without traffic. Flatmate: Me (Landlord), my wife, and a child. We don’t smoke or drink and never used drugs (including 420). There will be other tenants to join as your flatmate. To Consider: • Commuter rail train to Porter Square or North station in Boston is ~ $200/month with school student discount (Harvard, MIT, and etc.). On train, play phone, relax, read, sleep, etc. This MBTA card will include subway and buses so it’s a card to access all. Then having a bike/using public BlueBikes will get you anywhere. • This commute arrangement to Cambridge/Boston is great for theory/remote work-heavy. If you’re a theoretical philosophy PhD major that only needs to be on Harvard campus for twice a week or less, it’s ideal. Bonus: • Laundry units in the condo basement. • Dish Washer • Private Bathroom • AC cool and heat inside • Fast speed internet, basic household amenities are provided. • Garage for your car (Trust me you want this in New England winter) • I don’t mind letting you use my household supplies. Advantages of the location: 10 min away from major supermarkets, 10min from the gym, Free woody hiking trails everywhere, being near New Hampshire border and most importantly you are close to Cambridge and Boston by car and public transportation. I prefer a female tenant to keep this place tidy and clean. I also prefer to have graduate students who are working hard to polish skills and have a quiet home to return to. In return, I want you to keep the home clean, organized, and well maintained. What I look for: pay bills on time, non-smoking, no drug use (including 420, no I cannot handle the smell), respectful, willing to keep space clean and communicate with people. Sorry, no party is allowed in the condo (elders next door). Absolutely, no pets, I need to keep my home intact. In essence, you can come live here with just a suitcase.
