For over four years we've established a lovely and mature culture of group living that has fostered many delicious shared meals, house projects, fruitful gardens, cleanliness without passive aggression, laughter, music making, and more. As we lose a roommate pair to grad school in MA, we are seeking out new roommates to help us continue the culture we've loved while adding your own special flavor. Who we are: We're teachers, life coaches, mentors, healers, activists, bike builders, project managers. Jess, 29. A former public school elementary teacher turned life coach, she spends her days coaching young professionals. Loves: Biking on summer nights. Speakeasy DC. Storytelling. Discussing all things on transformation + personal development. Trimming the hedges (so satisfying). Hiking. Mountain air in the morning with the sunrise. Dislikes: Doing laundry. Scheduling. When it rains for days on end. Phil, 32, has a knack for building things, making bikes out of bamboo, crafting old-timey guitars out of cigar boxes, and other artistic endeavors. Likes: hammocks, house shows, community dinners and brunches, outdoor adventures, berry-picking, biking/kayaking/camping trips. Margaret, 32, loves exploring the intersection of spirituality, social justice, and self-care. Massage therapist, learner of all the healing modalities, and aspiring coach, with a deep appreciation for her book club turned recovery-from-dominant-culture support group. (Yes. It's that amazing.) You will find her in activism meetings, singing circles, in the garden, leafing through a new treasure found on the personal development book shelf, and meditating. Where we live: Beautiful 3 bedroom plus basement Petworth corner rowhouse in a wonderful location. We have a large and lovely common space with an open floor plan, where we entertain and cook large dinners frequently. Our outdoor space includes a front porch, a backyard swing and hammock, a raised bed and lots of potted plants, and topiary bushes, if you're into that. Four bathrooms. Location is 4528 4th Street at 4th + Buchanan NW, One mile from both Fort Totten and Georgia Ave-Petworth metros, directly on the 64 bus line. We have a locked bike room/storage room. Parking is available if you need it. Five minute walk to Qualia Coffee, Yes! Organic Market, Petworth Library, etc. General roommate profile: folks who like cooking and sharing fresh food with friends. A conscientious housemate, an open communicator, a person who sees a group house as an opportunity to work together and make our lives more awesome. The room: perfect for a couple or an individual if you want plenty of space. A large, sunny master bedroom with private bathroom. (Current resident says: "naked from bed to bath. #fullsizemirror #winning") A separate nook is the perfect spot for a large desk, with an epic sunset window. Two closets offer a lot of storage.
