The house represents all the Usonian principles developed by Frank Lloyd Wright: local materials, a closed public street-facing facade, clerestory windows, concrete floors, built-in furniture, and large glass openings to the garden. Set on a secluded 0.46-acre lot in the San Gabriel foothills, the house, with its L-shaped plan organized around the garden, offers canyon views, mature trees, and a spectacular infinity pool. A two-car carport extends the home's horizontal profile with redwood paneling, while a Japanese-inspired water feature and garden lead to the lower level with the double-door entrance. Inside, red concrete floors, cork flooring, custom wood paneling, exposed beamed ceilings, and leaded glass that creates beautiful light define the material palette. The kitchen, with a Miele dishwasher and Sub-Zero refrigerator, opens via a breakfast bar to the dining area, while the double-height living room with a brick fireplace steps down toward the garden and pool, creating a dynamic interplay of compression and expansion. Japanese sliding doors connect the office and bedroom to the garden-facing hallway. Clerestory windows provide soft natural light and cross-ventilation, while direct outdoor access from nearly every room extends the living spaces into the surrounding landscape. A saltwater swimming pool, added in 2012, and a treehouse complement the garden setting. The residence offers three bedrooms, an office/library, and two bathrooms, with a newer roof installed in 2022.
