The spacious 1,055-sq.-ft., family-oriented home comes with radiant floor heating and stainless-steel appliances, including dishwasher. The rent is $3,980 a month, including one parking spot. As new residents, you will be joining our vibrant East Van intentional community in the city’s first cohousing – multi-generational neighbours in 31 homes, 29 of which are owned. You will share a 6,000-sq.-ft., air-conditioned common house, with a kids room, yoga/exercise/dance studio, rooftop garden, office space, guest rooms, bike storage and more. Beyond the benefits of your physical space, this community is a place to deepen shared values of cooperation, live more lightly on the Earth and grow neighbourly relationships. Schools, parks and shopping are nearby. Please understand that cohousing is not social housing or a co-op with subsidies – the rents are market rates for a modern apartment with quality features, plus sharing our common house. Also unlike a co-op, you will not be buying a share. Our community is of mixed ages – including 24 children – and stages of life with a wide range of interests. We have regular shared meals in the common house. Residents, renters included, participate in community meetings, events and committees, and the upkeep of our common property. Selected applicants will be invited to tour Vancouver Cohousing. Those still interested will be invited to interviews, and the selection will continue with reference and credit checks for finalists.
