The Blue Whitney - Welcome to 134 Whitney, a historic West-End multi-family. This second floor unit layout and character are museum worthy and it’s a pleasure to show this one-of-a-kind apartment. As soon as you walk-in the front door there is an original stained glass window from the 1900’s that tints the front entry and stairs. The hand carved handrails and balusters leading up to the apartment are stunning and something you would never see today. One baluster alone would be the cost of a Home Depot complete railing system. There is an open and bright landing at the top of the steps with entry into the living room through two French doors. There are two sliding pocket doors that enclose these French doors which is extremely rare to still be functional and at the property. There are lots of surprises like this that bring you back to the grand era of craftsmanship. It’s also why this street has been designated a historic district. The landing could be out of a museum or an estate home. It is also access to the open front porch which is a real highlight of the property. The second floor open porch is a great size that spans the width of the house and is about 8-10’ deep. Any combinations of outdoor furniture could fit on the porch and make it a great place to spend time/entertain. The apartment has a formal dining room with built-in hutch and crown moldings. The moldings, extra wide trim, solid wood panel doors throughout are original and couldn’t be replaced. The kitchen has a gas stove which is rare for an apartment and there is enough space for a small table. There are new cabinets and a dishwasher. Off the kitchen is a pantry for good storage and best of all there is a washer and dryer in the apartment that will be included in the rent. The apartment has a unique layout with two bedrooms but has the potential for a third bedroom or office. This bonus room is off the landing area or through the second bedroom. Either one of the accesses could be closed off and would be up to the renter on their ideal use of the bonus room. The apartment is very bright with multiple double hung oversized windows in each room. The original fur hardwood floors go throughout the apartment. There is surprisingly large closets in this older home. There is an even an option to make the bonus room a huge walk-in closet. There is one full bathroom with a tub. There is also a small back porch for more relaxing space outdoors. The dining room and living room are open to each other and flow right into the front hall and landing, porch area. The bedrooms are set off to the other side of the house. This is one of the best parts of the apartment. The location is also a terrific selling point. You are two blocks to UConn Law School. Two blocks to Elizabeth Park. Elizabeth Park has open fields and lots of free activities throughout the year, like their popular summer concert series. Everything is walkable from the apartment. You have great dining options at all the favorite West End restaurants like Tisane, Tangiers, and Mo’s for the best breakfast in the city. The highway is less than five minutes. Easy commute to downtown Hartford. Please keep in mind we have a strict application process that focuses heavily on credit. There will also be background, employment, and income verification. One year lease minimum. Only one month security deposit with a strong application. Pets considered on a case by case basis. Tenant pays f..
