Gary the manager there was actually really great. I have lived in a couple different places now and he really has been the best Landlord I have has thus far. He was just laid back and approachable which was a nice change of pace considering how rude Landlords can be.
The property was always taken care of and appealing to the eye. I loved my apartment. It was VERY spacious with lots of storage space for a very affordable price. I had an apartment with lake view which I could never get enough of. I didn't have any problems with any of my neighbors.
All in all I definitely recommend living here!!
My wife and I lived here 5 years, and it was all we could have hope for and more. We just moved to a new house, something we probably would have done a couple years sooner if we didn't enjoy living here so much. It's hard to beat the fishing, kayaking, and seeing gorgeous sunsets every night from your living room. On top of that, the rent pricing was very affordable compared to everything else in the area- it was even more affordable than places that offered less square footage and amenities. The landlord and maintenance staff were consistently helpful, kind, and prompt whenever there was anything, large or small, that we needed help with or to be fixed. I cannot recommend this apartment complex more, and I am very thankful we got the chance to spend as much time as we did living there!
P.s. as far as the water is concerned (based on seeing other reviews bring it up) - we never had any significant maintenance issue from it. Once, our shower head had low pressure from some build up, and they replaced it within 30 minutes of calling. The tap water is like any well water in Michigan. We used a brita filter just because my wife found the taste preferable, I always drank from the tap.
I was a resident at GLA for two years and loved my entire stay. the units were spacious with great natural light. I never dealt with leaks, appliance issues or loud neighborhors - unless I was sitting alone in silence I never heard people from other units or the hallway. hot water always available altho water quality was not the best, it was nothing a water filter on the tap wouldn't fix. heat/AC worked great. had a beautiful view of the lake from third floor, my balcony was a decent size. the landlord Gary was kind, understanding and helpful as were the maintenance staff. grounds & common areas were kept clean & when our washer broke it was replaced in a timely manner. I felt safe in the complex. If I ever move from a house back to apartment this is the first place I'd go

My father and I have been living here for roughly 3 years (wow time flies). Throughout that time we have had a couple issues with the unit, however, maintenance has always been very quick to resolve issues in the apartment, most issues are fixed within 1-3 days.
The space itself is very nice, great location, and right on a lake, sadly there is often tons of goose traffic and they poop all over, but that's not the fault of the owner. Parview drive, the road to the apartments is also filled with potholes sadly, but also this isn't the fault of the owner as it's public
The community is great, my neighbors are all fantastic, the walls are thick so I rarely hear noise bleedthrough. It's very safe and I have never had anything stolen from storage (which has happened at other apartments sadly).
It's not perfect, but I have had a great experience at a good price. Overall I would recommend if someone is looking for a good complex in the clarkston area!

I have lived here at GLA for over 12 years now.
Gary is a great manager. Very approachable with any concerns. He takes his job seriously. In our lease we sign are basic rules, ie: quiet time from 10 pm- 8 am .
This should be respected as tenants. Gary’s job is to enforce the rules so that we can all live comfortably here. Pet policy is to clean up after your pets. Respect that policy! Lucky to have pets here.
Maintenance crew here is absolutely great!! Very helpful and respectful. They fix your issues quickly.
As far as water here, it is way better water pressure since they fixed alot of water lines over past few years. GLA is a great place to live !
I've lived at GLA for almost 2 years now and quite enjoyed my time. The location is excellent, close to anything you'd need in the safe city of Clarkston; the landlord and maintenance staff are always timely to respond to requests; and the rent is very reasonable, especially given how large our living room and bathroom are. Overall I'm very satisfied with my choice to live at GLA.
We were residents here for 4 years, one year in the one bedroom and three years in the two bedroom. Gary the landlord made every transition as smooth as possible he was nothing but accommodating and understanding in each moving process. Him and the maintenance team were always quick to respond and fix any issues.

I have a med size dog and we love our home here. Gary and the guys have always been on top of things, making sure we r comfortable and happy. Moving in was a great experience for the first time ever. I’ve lived on my own for almost 9 years now and this is by far my favorite apartment. Fair price, great location, updated, on a lake, pet friendly, and I can never hear the current or past people above me and I’m on the bottom floor.
