9/15/24/ I have lived at the Avondale since October 1, 1991. We have had some big, unpleasant things happen here since I moved in, but management dealt with them, and we got on with our lives. (We have had two serious floods since I have been living here. Basically my 33 years of living here have been happy and comfortable. The apartments are conveniently located to give easy access to libraries, post offices, UPS and Fed Ex offices, Grocery shopping, drugstores and pharmacies, entertainment, schools and churches. There is most often ample parking. My thoughts are (I hope not selfish) that after 33 years, my apartment could use some 'gratis' up-grades, and our hallways badly need new carpeting or hardwood floors. My entire apartment could use a really good paint job. The carpet needs a good cleaning. My cabinets, kitchen and bathroom, need a make-over or a paint job. I would prefer soft colors which I can pick out and pay for myself. soft colors of good semi-gloss paint for the walls of the apartment and good gloss enamel for the cabinets in the bathroom and the kitchen. My apartment functions great but it looks very tired and shabby. It is in need of a new kitchen floor. Since my kitchen appliances are black (a color I would not have chosen) I would suggest that the walls be painted white semi-gloss enamel, the cabinets white gloss enamel and the new floor reflect this color theme. I would be happy with white semi-gloss enamel on the walls of the bathroom and white gloss enamel on the bathroom cabinet, the inside and outside of the bathroom door and the woodwork. The bathroom floor is fine as it is. I would love to have an up- graded shelving arrangement in the entrance hall as I enter the apartment. Most apartments have mirrors and glass shelving there, but I have bare wall and painted boards. I have asked for these things before in your surveys but with no results. The previous rental company offered to up-grade the apartment, but only if I would agree to a raise in my rent in the middle of my lease. Since it goes up each year, by about $50.00 per month, I felt that I could not agree to a $70.00 plus per month rent increase. I apologize to management for the sad manner in which many of my co-renters treat the, once, newly painted doorways of our apartments and the newly painted doors to the laundry/trash and storage units. I would suggest that if you decide to repaint the laundry/trash and storage unit doors you should place light-weight metal or clear heavy plastic panels on each of these doors which would extend upward to chest high in order to prevent the banging and gouging caused by careless people banging their laundry carts and trash containers into the doors. Thank you for asking. I notice that things have already begun to improve around here on the 7th and 2nd floors and the lobby always looks good. Also, thank you for the previous Halloween Met & Greet and for the upcoming Pool Party to celebrate the end of summer. I am sorry more of the residents did not attend.
