About Lofts on State Street
SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM FOR A LINK TO A VIRTUAL TOUR. 322 south State St. is a mixed use building at the entrance to the university of Michigan Diag (Central Campus). The property features 4 luxury loft apartments on the second and third floors that literally overlook the entrance to the campus. The Apartments where developed in the mid eighties and were the first entrants in an era that, with incentives from local government, saw numerous downtown residential projects developed. Over the years the Lofts have been used as either residential units or, on occasion, as office suites for small, often fledgling, businesses. The high end, high quality construction made it easy for the units to adapt to either use. Beneath the lofts, on the ground level, resides one of Ann Arbor's favored cafes. Espresso Royale Cafe has resided at 322 S. State St. for over a dozen years. There are also several commercial enterprises in the lower level. Each unit is decidedly unique with varying tile, cabinet, plumbing and lighting fixtures - so that each unit has it's own distinctive personality. Units 1, 2 and 4 overlook the Northwest gate to Central Campus while unit 3 (the largest of the 4) is quietly secluded in the rear of the building.
