Living in the proximity of Canterbury, I drive down the road often. I am surprised at how amazing the new upgrades on the outside has turned out. Beautiful job.
I've lived here for a year, and love it. The neighborhood is pretty and quiet, and the apartments have a nice floorplan. All units have a washing machine, dryer, and dishwasher included. Maintenance is really fast with requests. Ashley was a great property manager and Billie is too. Thank you!

The property manager can be straight forward, to some she may seem rude, I appreciate it. I don't need the fluff that many other property managers have. Any issues I have had with maintenance have been answered in a timely manner. I had a situation with my oven and the maintenance man dropped what he was doing to fix it.
I have called Canterbury Place home on and off the past 10 years, between college, and a few career transitions/location moves. To get straight to the point, Canterbury Place has everything someone, a group of friends/roommates, a couple, or a smaller family needs in regard to living in an apartment community. Below are a few key points I would like to inform anyone looking for an apartment in the Vero Beach area and why Canterbury should be on top of your list.
1. Price: Compared to all other apartment communities in the Vero Beach area, outside of your income restricted complexes, Canterbury is your lowest priced complex. Market wise they are way behind in adjustment for inflation. These apartments can easily rent for $1100 and STILL have a waiting list. If the apartments were as bad as some claim them to be, there wouldn’t be such a waiting list. Additionally, for pet lovers, you have one fee... and that’s it. No recurring monthly fee per pet! You also have a few options when leasing.
2. Location: The location of Canterbury Place is prime for an inland complex. You are pretty much 5-10 minutes away from most amenities, schools, stores, gyms, restaurants, beaches, and I95. While the North side of 16th St may be questionable to some, there is really nothing to worry about. Again... there is a reason many families and law enforcement professionals call Canterbury place their home. For those who may not have adequate transportation, Canterbury Place is between two bus stops (GoLine IRC) for the same route; one in front of Leisure Square and the other in front of Carolina Trace townhomes. For families with children: Canterbury is right next to Rosewood Magnet (Elementary) and 1.5 miles away from VBHS.
3. Service: The property manager has been there since my first stay. I have never had an issue with any of my requests or property management itself. All maintenance issues were addressed and resolved in a timely manner. For critical issues such as AC in the summer, the property manager went above and beyond each time to accommodate my living experience. For example, my AC went out and I was given a remedy in the same day. A new AC unit was being installed over three days and I was supplied with a phenomenal indoor unit that sufficed needs. The PM makes sure everyone in the community feels welcomed. Once a while (slower with COVID) community events are held that everyone enjoys! Thank you!
4. Pet friendly: I mentioned above that this is one of the complexes that doesn’t penalize you for having pets! While there are still breed restrictions, there are no weight limits, and you only have an initial fee; no recurring monthly fee per pet! There are many dogs in the community. From small dogs, to mid, and large sized dogs, there is adequate space and you can discover quite a few different walking paths throughout the community/neighborhood.
I’m summary, I strongly advise anyone searching for an apartment complex: a student (IRSC, Flight Safety, or other), a family, a couple regardless of age, or if you are simply looking for a place to hold it down while your home is being built, to visit and take a tour of Canterbury. Price, location, and service are there! The apartments have sufficient space and have a couple of different floor plans to match your preference. Don’t be surprised if there is a wait though!

I Been Living here for almost 5 years. This place is the Best Apartments i lived in. The Land Lord is Super Awesome, if i ever have a problem with anything in my house thats has to do with the apartments is fixes within a day or 2 of reporting the incident. The landlord Ashley, has already fixed my Water heater, both Sinks, my washer, replaced my carpet after water damage, and Fixed my Air conditioning multiple times till it worked. The neighborhood is very relaxed. They allow pets here and thats honestly a big reason we moved here. So i would recommend Canterbury Apartments to all my friends. Plan on living here for a few more years.

When looking for a new place to live a was recommended by a friend to Canterbury place. From the minute I stepped in and met Ms. Ashley the process was very easy and clear. She is very welcoming and polite. I was able to make an appointment for the viewings and felt very at ease with the process. The neighborhood and apartments are very clean and quiet.

Here’s the run down.
I was in a bind and needed a place to stay. I was permitted to move in to Canterbury Place. The property manager made the contract pretty easy and simple to work with.
This place is pretty basic; no swimming pools or tennis courts, and it’s not an ocean front property, and that’s okay. It’s Vero Beach, the beach is literally a five to ten minute drive, and there are tennis courts open to the public.
This place isn’t super kosher. These buildings were built in the 80s. They still use carpet floors in some areas of the unit you’ll live in, but that’s just part of the charm. You’ll have to understand, people have lived in these places before you, just like any other apartment you’d rent. However, they actually go back behind the last tenant and make repairs, paint, replace the carpets and such.
Yes, the appliances are basic (and that’s a good thing, too). Remarkably, we have dishwashers here, laundry units, working refrigerators and ovens. Some places don’t even offer laundry units. Anytime something becomes disabled, they take care of it fairly quickly. I’ve lived in a place that when the A/C broke, it took them about a week or so to fix it, in the middle of August. That doesn’t happen here; they’ll send an A/C company out to look it over within a day or two (depending on availability of a technician).
So yeah, it’s basic. There is some charm here, though. Outside of basically renting what you need, (swimming pools, club houses, and tennis courts, gyms and such is not a need) there are some quirks. There are a lot of stray cats in the neighborhood, but that’s okay. We, or at least I, don’t have a rat problem. Crime is basically nonexistent, since we have a lot of law enforcement officials living here, and they park their squad units on the sides of the road in the complex. It’d be fairly unwise for a criminal to try to commit a crime in this neighborhood.
Also, outside of the dog breed selection of what’s allowed, there isn’t a weight limit. Pets are allowed, but keep in mind, there are carpeted areas in the units.
So, if you can get past the place not “living up to your expensive standards,” and need a place to stay, Canterbury is quite affordable and doable. I have zero problems here (but I’m also a minimalist). As far as I’m concerned, the unit I live in is in working order, management is easy to work with and very direct, and as long as I have running hot water, working A/C, working windows, a clean house, working lights, and working appliances, I’m just fine with it.
I also pay a very reasonable price; the prices are extremely reasonable. It’s really hard to get a nice, decent, two bedroom, one bathroom apartment for the price that we pay, here. So if you’re single, a couple, a couple with a child, or two friends/room mates, this place is worth the look over. I doubt you’ll get what you’re looking for, for a better price in Vero Beach.
And one last thing, if you have children or are active, there’s a recreational building and ball field within like one block, and across the way is an elementary school, and the location is almost perfect. You’re between 58th Avenue’s shopping area and US-1’s shopping area. With LEOs living here, you don’t really have to worry about calling the police, and fire/EMS is just down the road. We’re on FPL, and honestly, your best bet is XFinity which does service here, regardless of what AT&T or FPL says. The only real nonissue here is dealing with COVB’s utility services, they’re kind of outdated on their website and online/direct deposit payments. A simple monthly phone call or drive thru deposit will suffice, but it’s kind of a hassle. Also, you’ll have to get money grams every month for rent, but that’s kind of a nonissue as well, since you’ll probably be going to Publix down the road to shop for groceries anyways. Just make sure to swing by customer service and have your cash ready for that money gram.
All in all, if you can get past the “wants” versus your “needs,” this place really is perfect and all you’ll really need, and, it’s pretty quiet.
