I wanted to come on here and say the biggest thank you to Makaya for helping me through this process. I was transferring units while also adding someone to my old unit and she was informative, patient, helpful, and always available to answer all my questions. I can’t express my gratitude enough for her help and for making me feel validated throughout the multiple week process. She provided me everything that I needed for the process and informed me right away when there were any updates. Both her and Malek were the reason why I was able to complete this process. I had been very stressed out and worried prior to starting it but Makaya’s help was truly the guidance I needed to navigate it. The leasing office has the best costumer service I’ve seen and I feel safe living here knowing how helpful everyone is!

I have lived at 1401 South Joyce Street for over sixteen years. I recently transferred to a penthouse apartment and Makaya was the leasing agent. I had several questions about the transfer and Makaya took the time to explain the policy, the cost of the move, etc. Thanks to her expertise and answering all my questions/concerns the move went smoothly. I also want to thank Malik and Tina as they assisted when Makaya was not available in answering some of my questions. Thanks also to the service team, Henok, Negussie and Samuel. There were some things that had to be fixed that were done by the rehab team and they took care of them quickly.
The staff at 1401 South Joyce Street is the best I have ever dealt with. They are always professional, courteous, and go the extra mile to make sure tenants are happy.
If you are looking for a place to live that has great amenities, close to shopping, public transportation, great restaurants, etc. this is the place to live. The cleaning staff works seven days a week and the building is very secure.
I want to add on what great service I have received from Negussie. He always responds in a timely manner and goes the extra mile to make sure things are done properly. He is a hard and dedicated worker and truly an asset to 1401 South Joyce Street.
Although this may seem minor to some people it isn't to me. Yesterday, June 4th, 2024 I was walking through the rear entrance to the bulding and had several bags of groceries. Malik saw me heading to the elevator and pushed the button for the elevator and even pushed the button for the floor I live on. This prevented me from not having to put my bags of groceries down and all of the years I have lived on this property I have never had a leasing agent do such a nice thing. A little kindness goes along way and even though I thanked him, I hope there is someone at Equity that also can let him know how much I appreciated what he did. It just goes to show there are still some good and kind people in this world.

1401 Joyce gets a 5-star review because of Angela, who is the concierge but really so much more. She is professional, welcoming, caring, protective and always went above and beyond to support the residents. Over 10 years, there were changes in the leasing office, renovations to the Clubhouse, gym and common areas, but Angela remained a fixture and was one of the reasons we continued to enjoy calling 1401 home. The maintenance staff was great and always responsive to any issues. We loved the location and convenience of 1401, but will miss the people, like Angela, who become like family.

I have been a resident here for five years and really love my apartment, location, community, and service/maintenance. For someone who doesn’t own a car, the location is absolutely perfect. Close to all the stores, restaurants, and metro. And proximity to the airport. It’s a nice neighborhood to take walks and runs.
I have had pipes burst twice over the years, but I was not bother too much by it because the maintenance staff were quick to resolve and take care of the issue. Maintenance staff are great, they really try to help you out with issues in your apartment.
I especially want to give a five star review to Angela at the front desk. Always very welcoming and tries to help resolve any last minute issues that come up. Being here for five years, there is a constant change of front desk staff, but Angela has always been there. I think it is always nice to see a long standing staff member that you recognize and making it feel like home and a community.
If I move, will miss living here very much!
Have been living here for over a month and have really enjoyed it. Apartment was very clean at move in and service team have been very helpful and responsive to our needs. Malik in leasing was very helpful during the touring and move in stage. Henok, Samuel and the rest of the service ream have been excellent in helping us set up a few difference pieces of the apartment, including helping with our TV set up. Overall have loved living here so far!
Azeb and Angela at the concierge are always so kind and attentive, they truly are the reason I stay at this apartment complex! They both go the extra mile to get to know me. The maintenance staff is also so kind and quick to respond to urgent situations. Thankful to Azeb & Angela for making 1401 S Joyce feel like home :)
There are not enough great things to say about this wonderful building, its location, its community, and its absolutely exceptional leasing staff (Makaya and Malik), and community manager (Tina) who are kind, helpful, and beyond patient. This building is stunning - with washers, dryers, and AC and heating that can be controlled all year round, which is a rarity for the buildings in the neighborhood... And it's non-smoking. The building itself is a very friendly community, and it just felt like a great place to call home. I was apartment hunting for quite a while and spent *a lot* of time with Makaya touring the building and looking for the perfect apartment - there were so many great units. Makaya is AMAZING! Kind, caring, and as I said before, so incredibly patient. I also had the pleasure of working with Malik who came up with great ideas, and went out of his way to get some answers I really needed. I am truly lucky to have found and worked with both of these great people in a very stressful apartment hunt. I was also luck to meet both Samah earlier on, and Tina, the wonderful manager for 1401 Joyce near the end of my search. She too is such a fantastic and kind person, and I'm so glad we met. Thank you all for your help, and I just wanted to give a huge, public 'thank you' to all of you for your help when I was looking to find a new home, and to recommend all of you - and this wonderful building, community, and management company (Equity) as highly as I possibly can!! :)
Malik in Leasing is so terrific! He goes out of his way to get detailed information that is needed. He is responsive and always follows up on a timely basis. I used to live there from 2007 to 2020 (13 years), and I've been working with Malik as I'm thinking of relocating back to the area. Tina who is the manager now in 2024 was also the manager before I left. I thought she was terrific also. She handled any issues promptly and was always pleasant to work with. Angela who works at the front desk becomes like a family member. She truly loves her job and treats the building like it's her home making sure that everything is running smoothly and gives you that warm welcome when you come home from a crazy day at work. I called this place "home" for a very long time, and there was a very good reason for it.
