Came by here recently, they've done some sprucing. Anything more than 600 for one of their apartments would be silly. Not sure what they charge.

Okay apartment building in west side of Lakewood

Lived here for a year. Location is nice and that’s about where it ends. Like another reviewer said, any maintenance that needs to be done ends up falling on the tenant. I’ve lived in cheaper apartments that at least return your calls/emails when there’s something like a leak or dysfunctional appliance. Good news is, you can teach yourself to be really handy. Bad news is, when you move out they will gouge your security deposit for things that were broken when you moved in. I was charged $15 for a ‘shower curtain replacement’. There was no shower curtain in the apartment when I moved in. I left the one that I bought in the apartment figuring it would be either tossed out or used by the next tenant. They state in their listings that heat and parking are free— but there is a waiting list for parking and the lot does not have enough space to accommodate all the tenants. I was placed on a waiting list (if I was even actually given a second thought) and never heard anything on it. Ended up street parking as there is a tow truck that regularly patrols the lot to nab those trying to get a sneaky space to park in west Lakewood. If you don’t have a parking pass, you will get towed from that lot. In terms of heat, the building did have it, but you have no control over when it’s turned off and on. The baseboard heaters would blast in the colder months to the point where I would sometimes have the windows open on 20° nights. Better than the heaters not running enough? Absolutely, but just worth noting. Laundry is coin operated with a change machine that takes 1s and 5s. There’s no garbage chute in the building so you need to walk your trash down to the dumpster behind the building. Many tenants smoked when I lived there so the hallways reeked of tobacco. Only one relatively-small elevator so you can expect to wait a bit as it’s picking up/depositing people amongst the other floors. You can also prepare to carry a lot of things up stairs because they won’t fit in the elevator. All of that being said, I paid $875 a month for a two bed apartment in a good location where I could walk to most of the places I needed to go to. I wanted a place where I could sleep and cook/eat meals when I wasn’t at work or out and about in Lakewood. This was a good crummy apartment that fit my budget when that was how I was spending my time and money. Just be warned and know what you’re getting into. Understand that you will be sacrificing your security deposit as soon as you sign your lease, and in my case, you will be charged several hundred dollars over and above your security deposit for preexisting things that you did not cause. And yes, you have a great view of a McDonald’s billboard if you’re on the east-facing side. It changes about once every other month.

If I could give less than a star, I certainly would. This place is absolutely horrible. You would have a more pleasurable experience sleeping in a cardboard box. THIS PLACE HAS INFESTATIONS!!! -Roaches: we were extremely clean in a newly renovated unit. Tons of people are dirty. Central heating with wall units and they came up through drains. I would loose sleep at night over the amount of roaches I would kill. -Bedbugs: we didn’t personally have any thankfully. Heard plenty of stories from other neighbors who had them and got them from others. Management does not pay for extermination services. You are to clean and handle the issue on your own. $35 fee for EACH item thrown away larger than a garbage bag. You get bedbugs and have to throw your whole house away? Extermination fee + garbage fees. Cleanliness: 1/10. Only because they have strict rules for managing tenant pet feces. First floor always smells like piss. Walls are dirty. Floor is dirty and dated carpet. Management was inexcusable. So many issues. Will leave at that. Soooo many hidden clauses in lease that end up getting you at some point. Be careful and read lease throughly. They get you. Took my entire security deposit for a few wall dings, scratches, common wear and tear. Charged me for AC filter cleanings. Like come on. Then you have to wait 65 days to get anything back form security deposit. (Law is 30 days) and blame it on “getting lost in the mail” Elevator is constantly down and is a terrible piece of equipment. They claimed to have spent “$100,000+” fixing the machine when they didn’t fix it. They put new doors on it to make it look newer. They put new control panels but kept same wiring. It still works very poorly. It’s too old of a machine to fix properly. Seriously a safety violation. I heard stories of people getting stuck in it. I am a friendly guy. I get to know everyone, everywhere. I knew 60% of all the people who lived in this place. Not one person had anything nice to say. Do yourself a favor, and stay away from Mark Twain. Honestly, stay away from any listing that Activity Residential has to offer.
